The clip is grey. You pull it out about halfway and it will catch on a little clip that is on the top. Then on the top you press down on the little clip piece and while holding it down you slide the entire grey clip out of the connector. Make sure you don't lose the clip! Once the clip is off, the connector will pull off the TB with little effort.

if anyone has taken the cigarette lighters off or any of the plugs in the dash, this has the same clips as those. Once that clip is off, then you can get it off pretty easily

Mine threw a P0300 code also & then the CEL disapeared but it's still been misfiring at idle lately. I'm going to try this after I get my car looked at tomorrow by the dealership... if the problem still isn't fixed.

Mine has been throwing P0300 for the past few months, before and after I've done this. I have just assumed that it was the cams; however, recently it has been going crazy and running a real rough idle, kinda like limp mode. It sounds kinda like a boxer engine and everything shakes pretty violently. This has happened a few times before cleaning it, but has happened twice yesterday and twice today on me. It will run normal if I shut it off and let it sit for a few moments, but comes back in idle situations where the car has been idling for a long time or goes under stresses while idling like turning the A/C on and off. I'm pretty sure it has to do w/ the timing control at idle. Checked my plugs and regapped them today, but they looked just fine...

Holy CRAP!!! its a miracle, it did work. My car runs so nice now. I swear i think i had it the worse. My whole Intake, TB, and S/C inlet were black. No joke really black. Oil was caked inside the TB, and the little fin inside the TB was also nasty and black. I cleaned her up good even inside the s/c inlet and intake. should be good. But now i noticed a crack in the exhaust but still. NO MORE FUNNY IDLE!!! wooohoooo!!!!!

I just cleaned her all up nice & good with that motomaster throttle body cleaner. I left it in the engine bay because this damn connector(as shown in picture below) was too much of a pain in the ass to get off. But all said & done my car now idles a lot more smoother then before!!

Ok, so the grey piece circled in green slides out about halfway, then the piece in red catches. You push down on the little clip circled in red then pull the entire grey connector out and put it too the side.

yah, once you get that clip off, the whole harness will pull out

to get that connector out u gotta slide the gray tab down and then push in the black button and slide it off

Im at work and got bored so i cleaned out the throttle body, and the MAF. Even with the 104 degree weather my car idles pretty money now!!!

Quick and probablly stupid question, but is anyone replacing the throttle body gasket when they're taking the TB off? looks like a nice rubber o-ring, but i wasnt sure if it needed to replaced like a regular gasket. Dont want to pull my TB off if i dont have the right parts to put it back on..

You don't have to replace the gasket, but I did replace mine just because....

This definitely fixed my issue. At 39k...that thing was looking pretty sad. I think once every 10k is a must now.

I tried it and it works! Actually my idle tends to hang too much now! I was like ok this isn't going to fix my car. I just need to keep tuning on it to get it to idle. But now I am finally happy. No more stalling at red lights trying to keep the car running with the AC blowing on a hot day!!

same problem with mine. I had the dealership do it under warrenty, they said it was some bad carbon buildup in the TB.

Didnt have the idle problem, but for ***** and giggles I did pull the TB and MAF and cleaned both today. The TB with 28k on it had a normal amount of residue in the bore, and the MAF, well you cant see the dirt, but it got cleaned. I know when I did this on my 04 GTO TB and MAF cleaning my MPG increased by 2 MPG. I think the next time I do this the TB is gonna get ported and polished.

finally there is a solution for that very annoying idle needle jumping nonsense, lol, mine does it but not too bad, its still annoying though...i'll try this out one weekend... great find!!!

Ok i just clean mine, took it around the block, and it worked..very well. however; now the rpm's stay up alot longer then before. before the clean the would just fall, but now the stay around 2k before they die down. think i should give it a few days for the computer to adj?

I did mine TB and MAF cleaning on Friday, and I to have noticed that the RPM's hang a little above 1k until the car is at a complete stop. Kinda did it a little before the cleaning, so Im ok with it. Also balt accelerates smother and my MPG has gone up for the time being.

my dad says thats how my car was when i first got it, i just started letting out on the clutch a little slower...seems to work. other then getting use to ideling again (lol) it worked great!

I just got done cleaning mine. At first it threw a CEL because the plug wasn't plugged in all the way or something. I adjusted it and took the car out for a spin. And wow, it is like a completely different car. It seems to pull a little better now, the shifts are a lot smoother and when I let off the gas in 2nd or 1st gear it slows down very smooth, none of that jerking crap it used to do. The idle bounces just a tad right at start up, but coming to a stop, the rpm's hang at about 1500 then drop to about 900. I was surprised at how much junk was in the TB...

I do recommend everybody to do this. Probably once every 10K miles should be good.
