Installed my new SPEC stage2+, details inside
I couldn't decide between the stage 2+ or stage 3+ so i went with the one i thought would work best for most of us. The stage 2+ which fits the bill for the average 230 to 280HP range.
Firstoff, anyone who buys ANYTHING other than a stage 2+, 3+, or above and is modded deserves it to ave a failure! Period!
Now for the good and not so good,
Clutch arrived with good packaging although it would not slide onto the input shaft. Found a small burr on 1 spline so we filed them all. It fell on after that! Pressure plate looked fantastic.
I also installed a Fidanza flywheel.
component weights,
Stock flywheel = 18.5 lbs, pressure plate& clutch = 14.0 lbs
Fidanza Flywheel = 8.5 lbs!
Spec standard stage2 Pressure plate & Clutch = 14.5lbs (wish i'd went with liteweight option)
10lbs saved on rotating mass and MAN do you notice it! Revs even faster now!
Install went well, clutch bleeder is in a BS spot but what else would i expect!
I drove it for approx 150miles before i hammered it on the street. LOTS of shifting though to speed the process.
All i can say is,
WOW WOW WOW!!!!
After installing the Corsa and 2.7 pulley i thought my car felt slower, it did beacause the clutch was slipping!
Now with the SPEC clutch, 50 mph in 2nd, i punch it and am met with instant wheel spin and a car that is heading for the ditch! The power is now making it to the tires at least, just not the pavement! Shifts are VERY positive, no slipping, chattering, or grinding. Car feels like it gained 50lbft of torque and 50HP! You would have to feel it to believe it! Pedal pressure is slightly firmer which was badly needed.
After driving an 11sec Impala for awhile, this car is now starting to feel pretty darn fast and not far off in performance!
I will keep you all updated on the progress and you will get an unbiased review

230-280 hp.. that's only about 230 tq on our cars.... the 2+ should hold well over 300tq, it's the same thing as a stage 3, it just has more or a stock pedal feel to it. it clamps harder when it's already in motion, because of a hinge system on the clutch.
for 220tq, all you would actually need is a stage 1, stage 2 would cover anything up to 250-260 tq or so, 2+ would cover 260-300tq (maybe 300).
and anyone that gets a stronger clutch deserves failure? come on guy, why would you say something like that?
for theBLUEone:
it's not necessarily intense, as it is more time consuming.

I will probably get a 3+. Thanks for the write-up, I don't exactly see too many other people, testing products out and then giving full write-ups. You guys should be thankful.

Also, since it is apart, a Fidanza aluminum flywheel is a nice add on

Disconnect battery
Remove fuse box under the hood
disconnect linkage on the backside of the tranny
Remove clip and fluid line from the tranny side
There is a harness that is clippped on to the upper bellhousing bolt that needs to be removed to access the bolt and then remove the bolt.
Connect a engine support to support the engine
Remove 3 rear tranny mount to bracket bolts , you gained access to these when you removed the fuse box
Remove the 2 connectors on the top of the tranny
Remove front tires
Underneath the vehicle
Remove the IC pump bracket to gain access to the upper starter bolt
Disconnect wiring to starter and remove the 2 starter bolts
Remove the slide bolts on the balljoints
Remove the 2 steering rack bolts that hold it to the cradle.
Remove the 3 intermediate shaft to engine block bolts
Remove both tranny mounts
Support the radiator on the bottom side with something. THIS WILL FALL OUT IF NOT SUPPORTED
Use a bungy cord or something to support the steering rack up
Remove the engine cradle by removing the 4 bolts on the corners
Pull axles out of the tranny, have a drain pan to catch the fluid loss
Remove to 2 6mm bolts of the rear bellhousing cover
Support the tranny with a jack
Remove the 2 bolts from the tranny to the oil pan
Remove the bellhousing bolts
Pull out on the tranny to disengage the shaft from the cluch disc and drop the tranny down
Remove the pressure plate to flywheel bolts NOTE: these are inverted torque bits bolts
If replacing the flywheel, remove flywheel bolts
Install new flywheel using blue locktight and torque to specs I'll recheck but I'm thinking 39ft lbs and additional 25 degrees
Before installing new clutch be sure to check the the clutch disc slide on the input shaft of the tranny easily
Install new clutch and pressure plate using an alignment tool to insure it is centered
Using blue locktight torque bolts to 22 ft lbs NOTE: there is no pilot bushing in this vehicle
Be sure to install the bellhousing spacer before reinstalling the tranny. Set it on the engine alignment pins and reinstall the tranny.
Reinstall everything in the order it was removed
Before installing the front tires, refill the tranny with the correct fluid. The fill hole will have to be reached through the drverside wheel well. USE ONLY SPECIFIED FLUID GM part # 21018899 Be sure to do this, although it might not look like much you lost. These tranny's only hold 1.5 quarts of fluid so every bit is important.
Bleed the clutch
Enjoy
