any intake should

Zoomyjs 06-09-2006 04:10 PM

which one is louder, Fujita or Injen, and does either involve problems into trying to fit it in the car.

Zoomyjs 06-09-2006 04:12 PM

just because i have heard of some problems with people trying to install the Injen.

WSFrazier 06-09-2006 04:18 PM

From what I have heard, the Injen gives you more S/C whine. I've heard both in person.

The Injen can have fitment issues, you gotta play with it more to make it fit nice. If installed with the bracket included, you will most likely get a little dent in your bumper. If you don't use the bracket, it fits perfectly and is still tightly in place.

ooohhhh ight thought they were talkin bout a dent in the pipe itself, or do the new ones now come with a dent to prevent it from pushing out the bumper?

g5mike 06-09-2006 05:10 PM

Injen is the way to go

DTM2188 06-09-2006 05:19 PM

I got the K&N Typhoon CAI and it gives great sound and performance, had no fitment issues, did get a lot of CEL's which have basically not occured anymore since I got the GM Stage 2. And I think its a little less expensive than the others, but not 100% sure. Good luck with whatever one you get.

CobaltSS422 06-09-2006 10:11 PM

Made my own using an extra stock airbox. Didn't see the point of spending 200 bux for 3-5hp and a supercharger whine. I spent 50 bux which included the filter and the extra air intake and probably have the same performance. I'm taking out my fog lights this weekend. The DS fog light lines up perfectly with the filter. So driving it would be like some kind of ram air

Go with injen!

Rangerondubz 06-09-2006 10:24 PM

Yea thats what im goin with, i was gonna go with the k&n but i heard people get alot of CEL's so i dont really want all that so im goin with the injen

I just got the Injen and it had the "DENT" on the tube. I havent gotten a CEL and install fitment was good. My car is a 06 ss/sc

rhanes216213 06-09-2006 10:37 PM

I have had the Injen CAI on since I have had 89 miles on the car. I have 1,700 miles on it now and have never had a CEL. The new CAI has an indent on the top of the tube to keep it from hitting the hood when you close it. Mine does not have the indent as it is an older style unit. The bracket is actually called a vibra-mount. It is a black rubber mount that screws onto the stud that is on the fender well. By leaving the vibra-mount off, I had no fitment issues at all and it does not push on the bumper. I also took a 3/8” gas line hose and put it all the way around the opening where the CAI enters the fender to keep it from chafing a hole into my CAI. It works great for me and sounds good. It turns a lot of heads as you go by.

Heres a pic from another thread.

https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/show...en+intake+dent

It helps so the hood doesnt hit the tube.

I have an Injen as well. Pretty sweet.

does it have the dent i think it looks like shit personally

WSFrazier 06-10-2006 02:13 AM

Mine has the dent on the top. Dave on here has the old Injen without the dent. As far as I know, I think he told me that his doesn't even hit the hood. The real fitment issue with the Injen is that if you use the vibramount bracket, it will hit the bumper and leave a bump on the outside. If you don't use the vibramount bracket, it fits perfectly. I dont even see the purpose of the vibramount, even without it, there isnt any vibrations or noise.

My question is, does the dent that the new injen has on top interupt the airflow at all? Seems like it would but I don't know if its enough to decrease performance at all.
