Intake Question
 

Okay, In the next couple days here I am getting a SS/SC brand new, but its an 06.

My dad put up half the money and he has a strict rule. NO MODS! Is there any way I could just put a new Air filter (like a cone) over the stock one, that way it all "appears" stock.:D

1st, will it fit?
2nd, Will it give me same performance as a full intake?
and finially.. Are autozone ones okay, or should I get a AEM or Injen?

Ya, do the airbox mod. It looks stock from the engine bay. Only place you can see the difference is when you take off the plastic in the wheel well.

yeah even then it doesnt look modded unless you do cutting, but if you take the cap off and run new filter your dad wont even know. unless he works for gm and hes an ase certified mech. lol

haha yes yes, I like where this is going. I did a 24hr test drive yesterday on this thing and HOLY SHIT it is FAST! and SWEEEEEEEEEEET, all the little perks are awesome. XM radio, steering wheel controls, MP3 stock deck. Leather, ABS...The car is the greatest thing ever

Now i just have to find a way to hide a Exhaust! haha

GM Stage one would be hard to detect!!!!!! Plus its none warrenty voiding!

There is always the GMPP exhaust too...

ehh...if your young and don't have too much cash it might be hard hiding the fact your modding up your car.


i think your best bet is to keep it stockish (aside from airbox mod) and after a few months try to sell him on the GM stage kits...

so GM kits dont void warrantys? Because I can get non warranty voiding mods. and So im assuming that they are done at the dealership.

Also, does that GMPP exhaust really do as good of a job as like a magnaflow or those other brands.?

ppl say they dont but your best bet is to call ur dealer and ask them. i know i got stage 2 now and its not covered here .

stage 1 and 2 should be covered for at least 12 months...

if your lucky, your dealer won't care.

I dont understand why these dealers think they can not warranty a car with a stage kit. They dont warranty, GM does. At any rate, the GMPP Stage kits and exhaust will NOT void any warranty, period. If a dealer tells you it will, flip them the bird and move on to the next one.

AEM makes one that appears stock when you open the hood... only place you can see the aftermarket intake is in the wheelwell when the plastic moldings are removed

AEM intake here. No problems, works perfect, looks stock.

Ok since i found this thread did not want to start another one here is my question... Ok i bought the Injen CAI right my car is stock except for magnaflow cat back exhaust my question is why does when i have my Cold Air Intake in it make my car engine light come on it says it is running lean so what do i do put it back on when i get stage 2 cause i really want to run it now before i get stage 2 but any opinons on what i should do?

Anyone have any idea on this lol i just bought my stage 2 so i guess i will be good right ^^

Alot of CAI intake owners get a CEL shortly after installation. Its no big deal, just disconnect your battery for 15 minutes, then reconnect and crank the car up. The CEL should be gone.

However if it continues, GM stage 2 reflash will get rid of it permanently.

And now on to ANYBODY in question of GM stage 1 and 2 warranty. Both are completely factory safe and maintain both the bumper to bumper and powertrain warranty. Anybody who says ANTYING different, does not know what they are talking about.

This goes the same for any GMPP exhaust kit.

Also, if you get GM stage 2 installed, your dad will not be able to pop the hood and detect it. You have to look really hard to know its there. The only thing he will notice different is if he drives it. Because it will be WAAAAAY faster.

there are no void warrenty parts.....you AND your father need to read up on the laws. you can do what ever you want and it will not void the warrenty. install a intake and your tranny goes... its covered.. they have to PROVE the part you installed caused the problem for them to void it. theres even a sticky....:rolleyes:

i took my car to the dealer with the nitrous kit installed, they didnt care :lol: but im also friends with the service manager :)

Look up U.S.C. 2301 on msn or google, it should turn up some things about the warranty act that everyone talks about. There's some good stuff in there for people who like to mod their cars.

keep the mods simple get stage one it is the same tune as stage two and down the road you can put an aftermarket pulley on if your dad lightens up eventually.... I haven't seen an AEM intake but the airbox mod is 100% undetectable under the hood!
