Just got my SS s/c

Well I just got my 05 ss and noticed that the pulley is a modular type. Just wondering if the stage 2 kit uses one like that. The part # on the pulley is TR2002. The injectors are green tops. Would the PCM have something on it too stating what was done to it? Just trying to identify what's been done. TIA

blueta 03-07-2007 07:14 AM

It's snowing right now, but when I get a chance I'll check out any #'s on the injectors and put them up and see if it helps.

g5mike 03-07-2007 07:58 AM

welcome aboard!

blueta 03-07-2007 02:19 PM

Thanks :) I also got my #'s off the injectors. They have green tops, siemens brand. The number on them is 12790827. There is also a # by where the connector goes in. That one is 139K. Also actually looked at it in the light today and the pulley is purple if that helps. I'm gonna try to look around at the vendors and see if I can find anything, but if anyone knows what this stuff is offhand I would appreciate it. On a side note/worst case scenerio, if the only mod is the pulley (I'll measure it to make sure of size), is it safe to run with a stock tune/injectors etc? I don't want to blow this thing up.

Johnboy12358 03-07-2007 02:30 PM

I can tell you those arent stock or stage 2 parts. (I think)

Red2.4SS/SC 03-07-2007 02:36 PM

if you have siemens injectors there either stock or 60lbers , if the pulley is modular then why dont you get a ruler and see how big it is , anything below 3.3 and its not stock , anything below 3.0 in not stage 2 , i wouldnt be surprised if you had 60 lbers and a 2.6

blueta 03-07-2007 03:34 PM

Well the injectors seem to be stock. I searched siemens 12790827 on google and they are stock. I'm not sure where to measure the pulley from (inside ribs or outside diameter). So the outside is about 3 1/8" (~3.12"). So with the belt being about 1/4" thick and sticking out of the pulley 1/8". Multiply the 1/4" by 2 (both sides), and the 1/8" by 2 and subtract the 2 of them and you get 1/4". Then assuming that the belt and pulley grooves are the same depth (1/4" divided by 2) you get 1/8". So take that 3 1/8" pulley and minis the 1/8" from all that other crap and you come up with 3". Sounds right to me :) I did all this with a stupid tape measure as best as I could and estimated the belt/pulley grooves. My digital caliper is at work (auto tech). So with a 3" pulley and EVERYTHING else stock, is it safe to run on 93? I haven't been beating on it because the darn dealer filled it with 87 :cussing:

chipsgt 03-07-2007 03:39 PM

^^^ You should not use anything less than 91!
You CAN, but you really dont want to.

blueta 03-07-2007 04:11 PM

I definitly am not running anything less then 93 in it. So can a 3" pulley be run on a bone stock car with 93?

yeah it can but if you bump up the rev limit from 6450 rpms you'll be in lean city. im at 6850 on stock injectors and my a/f's ar 13.5 at redline runs 10 a/f's till 5200 than once the injectors run out cause the stock cpu is telling it to dump full it sky rockets to lean. Check the rev limit and make sure the person didn't leave the stage two flash on there and just sell the pulley

shabodah 03-07-2007 04:27 PM

TR 2002 is either a 3" or 2.8" pulley, I forget which. Either way, you should upgrade to at least the stage injectors or keep her under 6k.

goddamnit phil when are you gonna let me fix your AFR man... I"ll even buy the credits tonight for your car... get away from the wifey for a bit and we'll fix your bitch.

blueta 03-07-2007 04:40 PM

I was searching google and found it to be one of those "dial your boost" pulleys. They don't have the part #'s listed on the site so I sent them an email to verify. I'm pretty sure after all the measurements it's a 3". I'm either going to get a MBC and turn the boost down, or get their 3.25" pulley for $65 and keep it mostly stock. Probably just get the boost controller though since they're extremely cheap and can pretty much do the same thing. Thanks guys.

06blackg85ss 03-07-2007 04:41 PM

why don't you just do the right thing and get injectors? since the part on the car technically voids the warranty anyway... also if you got this from a dealership, did you check and make sure it still has warranty? ... cause I know mine's voided

even if its a 3 inch pulley your fine on stock fuel limit and stock boost full cut will pull it for you any way near redline from 15 psi to 12.5 more maybe lower if the boost selenoid is workingor not. Make sure you have a warrenty bro and show them that you bought the car with that crap on it and your fine.

blueta 03-07-2007 04:54 PM

I still have the factory warrenty. Think if I bring the car in and tell them about the pulley they'll voide the warrenty? I also don't need the car any faster, that's why I don't want injectors. I've had plenty of fast cars in the past (2 turbo buicks, supercharged/heads/cam lt1, 2 other lt1's, and crap like that lol), I just wanted a peppy 4 cylinder daily driver.

Take a picture and show them this is how the car was bought and get proff. Tell them your not putting anyhting on the car that would void the warrenty and leave it at that. Just cover your own ass in cause they they some shit downt the road.

blueta 03-07-2007 05:22 PM

Shit, they just got back to me and it's a 2.8" pulley. Now I'm sure that will do some damage. :cussing:

Hey man, you control the RPM's, it'll be ok till you get it rectified (I just wanted to use rectify in a sentence again today, lol)

I think we need to extrapilate the excerbation of the rectification to which you are refering in your responsive conversational posting. The pulley will cause undesireable acceleration to a degree that is undeterminable without first understanding the internalization of the workings of the combustion of the engine.

sorry, your desire to use rectify in a sentence reminded me of the old ILC skit with Damon.

Anyway. Yeah 2.8 with stock injectors is gonna hurt, especially higher in the rpm band, however I think that you need to consider the other factors surrounding this discovery. The existence of the pulley with stock injectors is representative of the lack of knowledge of the previous owner, which makes you wonder what else he didn't do... like increasing the cooling to deal with the new heat produced by the blower or tuning the car to even try to deal with the increased air flow. You need to skip the dealership (as they will hose you if they realize what's going on with that pulley) and go to a good aftermarket performance shop and have them take a good hard look at what's been done to that car. Unfortunately this may be a hard lesson learned about buying used. Gotta take a good hard look BEFORE you buy the car.

Darksun 03-07-2007 06:33 PM

guarreneed you would blow up. 3inch has me outta control with the a/f's and IDC's on a cold day with stock injectors so i can only imagine yours.......

blueta 03-07-2007 06:38 PM

After I found the pulley I ripped through the car myself. I just wasn't sure of what the stock injector #'s were. The only other thing I found was a section of the exhaust was welded (not factory welding), right after the rear axle. Stock airbox even. I don't know if there was anything else on the car. If there was it's been put back with stock stuff. There is only 9k on the car, so I don't think that the pulley was on there too long. Hopefully. I also don't go to "performance" shops. I would rather do it myself. I don't trust anyone at a garage :nono:

Ryuu600 03-07-2007 07:49 PM

I do my own work as well but a shop would be more capable of noticing anything out of the ordinary on the car then you would as they have more experience. Either way you need to get something done about that pulley, either put the stock back on or do the supporting mods

Shortbus 03-07-2007 08:02 PM

Judging from the weld job, the previous owner had a exhaust also, because you have to cut the stock exhaust to get it off, prolly were to lazy to take the pulley back off since that takes the blower to be removed, knew the dealer wouldnt noticed, took the aftermarket injectors, car may/maynot have a tune on it also, depending if he even bothered to tune it, no telling what could of been done to it.

blueta 03-07-2007 10:05 PM

Exactly. I have no idea of what was on the car except for the exhaust cause of the welds. Everything else looks peachy. Oh, and I do work in a shop :) I was just assuming that the car was stock cause of the low mileage. That's my fault for being lazy lol. I also gave it a quick rev and it wouldn't go past 6500 so the stock rev limiter is still there.
