Just made my much anticipated purchase!

So I just ordered:
Polyurethane transaxle mounts and control arm bushings from Intense
Stage 3 kit , CA header, XTC Catless Downpipe, and Interceptor Gauge from Cobalt Addiction.
I'm so excited. All this going along with my existing mods and I"m hoping for low 13s with some good tires. By the way, what size is the smallest wheel I can fit over my rotors, and what are some cheap smaller wheels with the same lug pattern to buy so I can put drag radials on them for the track? Thanks guys!

Matty Jan 19, 2007 04:26 PM

Blew some coin today huh?

16's are the smallest that clear the brakes.

Scoot05RedSS Jan 19, 2007 04:28 PM

Yeah just a little! What's the lug pattern or what are some cheap stock wheels off or other cars I can buy?

I totally thought you were going to say you got a mail order bride.

Damn it this purchase pales in comparison

Wleee Jan 19, 2007 04:35 PM

go to Costco.. i picked up each steel wheel for $62.99 CDN.. so for you, it should work out to around $50 US..

and damn, nice list of mods you just picked up.. wheres the money tree?? lol..

XM15 Jan 19, 2007 04:37 PM

So how much did it all come out to?

yellowcobaltss05 Jan 19, 2007 04:38 PM

damn thats a nice mod list

plus2ss Jan 19, 2007 05:05 PM

Ive got sport edition F6 16 inch rims for a winter setup, I also use them in the summer for my drag radials. I got mine at www.tirerack.com. As for low 13's, only if you get good traction. My best was a 13.8 @ 101 w/ 2.06 60 foot time (on drag radials). Oh and if you go to tire racks website, thats a picture of my cobalt when it was stock. Ive got a buddy that works there and he needed a cobalt for pictures.

yellowcobaltss05 Jan 19, 2007 05:23 PM

^^ intense's tunes are really conservative and they dont bring out the true potential of the car.

Shortbus Jan 19, 2007 05:26 PM

I would get the sport editiont's from tirerack, there cheap, like 98$ per wheel, search for the saturn l300.

plus2ss Jan 19, 2007 05:33 PM

Also if you check tire rack, look for snow tire/rims for cobalt ss. that way all the rim sizes show up.

Scoot05RedSS Jan 19, 2007 07:54 PM

Thanks guys, I'll deff be checking into some. But it might be a while, cause I completely cut down my money tree for today's purchases. It all came out to be roughly 1400. I ran 14.4's with my mods now, so I think with decent tires I could run a good bit quicker. It's the damn launch that gets me, I can't stop the spin and wheelhop! And I don't need a mail order bride, I have a bride to be sitting next to me. We are getting married in Nov. We have a baby due in March so I'll be sticking with this one!

mite want to look in to some axles as well. if your going to put drag radials on. if you hook up hard you could bend and or snap one.

Scoot05RedSS Jan 19, 2007 11:23 PM

Yeah, I've been contemplating it. Hopefully without wheel hop my stockers will hold up for a while! I don't plan on doing any hard lauches. Maybe a few at the track but any street runs will deff. be from a roll. Thanks

Shortbus Jan 19, 2007 11:25 PM

If your still hoping tighten that ingalls, or just get bwoody mounts all aound, and cabs, and like he said if you hook hard enough you could snap, or bad wheel hop can snap em.

Scoot05RedSS Jan 19, 2007 11:45 PM

Well last time I was at the track i was still hopping. So I got home and tightened it down ALOT. But I haven't been back to the track since. So I also ordered the transaxle mounts and control arm bushings to eliminate it. I don't think it will be a problem anymore.

Holy shit, that's cool that that's a pic of your car, I noticed that the SS badge was higher then stock on the side. Haha, kinda neat. I guess your famous?

Which one mine? I'll deffinately let evereyone know how she feels after her operation.

DTM2188 Jan 20, 2007 12:26 PM

Are your rims powdercoated? How much did it cost if you don't mind me asking.

Scoot05RedSS Jan 20, 2007 12:42 PM

No I bought some PPG paint and clear coat. It's supposed to be a metallic black, but that only shows up on perfect cloudless days. I prayed 2 coats of paint and 2 coats of clear coat. About $100

DTM2188 Jan 20, 2007 12:53 PM

That looks sick man, do you have any more close up pics of them?

Scoot05RedSS Jan 20, 2007 01:17 PM

Not on this comp, I'll get some later for you!
