Muffler problem on SS/SC?

I think there is a baffle loose, got a rattling sound comming from muffler (i think it is muffler, dont know what else it could be) dont think it is CAT, well i want to just get a new muffler, and see if the sound goes away, You guys think that should be fix it, and what size muffler do i need, it is a 2 1/4 inlet muffle i need...right? even though i think the size is 2 1/2 of exhaust... i might just get a magnaflow muffler on eBay, any others that are nice with not a ricer sound. Thanks

There is actually a TSB on the mufflers having the baffles break off and rattling. I don't remember what the TSB number was or anything but it is a known problem.

Patience...

Anyway, Im not sure about what muffler would work but my exhaust had a rattle in it until I got under the car (When cold of course) and tapped on the piping. I then located the rattle which was coming from the bracket. I tightened it up and it hasent come back since. Mind you I have the gmpp cat-back but same idea.

Good luck.

i had the same rattling. I just took it to the dealer and they ordered me a new stock catback exhaust system. They said it was the resinator. just take it in... and get it replaced... or just order an exhaust.... if you get just a magnaflow muffler, its ganna sound awful!

I herd a stock exhaust with a replacement Magnaflow muffler, it was a little Lauder and raspier but it wasn't to excessive.

i had that problem about 2 months after i got my car, blew the baffle, they replaced the muffler. Of course it took 8 weeks to get one cause they were so new they had to pull a part off the Lordstown assembly plant for me
