I bet when you pulled the old one out you just unscrewed it and put new one in huh? Been there and done that the chain spins on crank a tooth or more. I did it and caught it luckily. You have to unscrew it with fir pressure and before that you should find the sweet spot on rotataion where the eng doesnt wanna spin on its own.

^ that's exactly what I did... I mean I followed all the steps on one of those how to's. removed valve cover, fuel rail, blah blah blah. & ima check and see the damage Ina couple days. Hopefully I can take the easy way out but who knows. I thought I screwed it up when twisting in the tensioner while it was freely moving but guess I was wrong.

Lol this thread has went forever. I have people telling me that they put it in while its moving up and down still, and then people putting it in while its not moving and extended. Lol so confusing. I think ima leave the timing chain components alone for now and let a garage do it for now on.

plug and played the tensioner here too and needed to replace valves. I keep telling people that you need to put a zip tie on the chain below the exhaust cam to keep tension on the crank sprocket when you remove the tensioner. Then I get bashed by people telling me it's a waste of time.
Then every now and then you see a thread here where it skipped timing and all the other people chiming in where it happened to them...

when you keep ask the same question and keep getting the same answer that's a sign
there have been more tensioners changed problem free then not if the chain jumps then you have other problems that needs addressing and if you feel that you must keep the chain tight then the best way is to remove the guide in the head and put tension on the chain between the cam gears so the chain is taught between all 3 gears not just 2

All I know is that I had 2 zip ties on one side of the chain, 2 on the other side, and 1 connecting the 2 gears. The 1 holding them together snapped :/ I then knew something prolly went wrong.

I don't get it why would it go wrong with You installing it ? All I ever did was take out the old 1 and put in the new 1. Give it a good tap but not too hard to get it set then start my car. 200 miles so far No Problems. Why would You go through all of that hassling ? It's all plug and play really.
