Need Help Fast, Please!

I have a stage 2 kit on and I am trying to put the CA 2.79" pulley on but I can't get the Stage 2 pulley off! The pulley just spins whats the trick I'm in a hurry please all help and opinions wanted!

yellowcobaltss05 Apr 12, 2007 05:02 PM

did you use the tool that comes with the kit to unscrew the bolts first?

Maxim_X Apr 12, 2007 05:03 PM

I'm assuming you have the tool. Just hold the pulley with one hand and turn the tool w/ the other. It you cant hold it get a friend to.

Just wondering, are you getting a tune with that 2.79. Cause you may want to stay out of boost until you get a tune.

yellowcobaltss05 Apr 12, 2007 05:04 PM

why would you pry the pulley off? after you take the bolts off the pulley should come right off the hub

RallyYellowMiniVette Apr 12, 2007 05:05 PM

I already have the stage 2 pully on and I have the tool so I thought that it was only torqued to like 18ftpds but I cant get them to break loose especially since it keeps spinning while Im trying I just brought it home from the dealer I got the stage 2 on today I just want the 2.79" pulley on

Maxim_X Apr 12, 2007 05:07 PM

Is the belt on the pulley??? If yo took the belt off the pulley already stick it back on there to loosen them.

^^ x2

RallyYellowMiniVette Apr 12, 2007 05:10 PM

the belt is still on the pulley I don't know why I cant get them off I think the tech torqued them to like 60 im serious I cant budge them

yellowcobaltss05 Apr 12, 2007 05:11 PM

i would take it to the dealership and have them loosen them up for you no charge

RallyYellowMiniVette Apr 12, 2007 05:14 PM

Yeah but I don't want them to know that I am putting a smaller pulley on and also its a half an hour drive. I didn't know if there was some trick to get the belt and pulley to stay in place while I used a long bar to break them loose.

Stouffer Apr 12, 2007 05:17 PM

strap wrench and be careful not to strip the bolts, they have lock tight on them that is why the don't want to come off.

Maxim_X Apr 12, 2007 05:17 PM

Nah, Just man up and grab that sucker and spin them. If you go back they are going to know your going to stick a smaller pulley on it. Their goes you warantee. when I did my 2.79 I just pushed down real hard on the pulley when I tuned it and It held, IDK what else to tell you.

RallyYellowMiniVette Apr 12, 2007 05:22 PM

Well never mind because i dont know what the hell they torqued them to because I just had a breaker bar on there and they didn't f*cking budge they striped completly out Im pissed

Stouffer Apr 12, 2007 05:39 PM

Take the supercharger off and get a strap wrench.

And again they use locktite on the bolts

If the hub is still spinning even with the belt on, put the car in gear. Good luck man, I've heard many horror stories of getting the ring off after the dealership put it on.

(DIY FTW) :cssNET:

I had a buddy grab a hold of that sucker while I torqued it off.

The serious problems I ran into was stripping the damn tensioner....

read up. these might help you. i cant find my topic that explains how i got it off, but i had to dremel the bolts and use a huge screwdriver head (cuz i kept snapping bits in half).
