need some serious advice on twincharge kit
 
im in a huge debate with myself on this twincharge kit i have, i want to put it on my car but then part of me doesnt, im getting so many mixed opinions on what i need as far as supporting mods go and whats needed to do this setup safely. a really dont want to blow shit up with this motor so please everyone give me your opinions on what should be done cause if i dont decide soon im gunna have to let this kit go. part of me sometimes thinks that this car isnt strong enough to hold this kit without thousands in mods. everyone please help me out cause im really having mixed feelings with this car.

Basiclly all you need is forged pistons. Maybe rods if you really want to. Besides that you should be fine. Of coarse you need a full exhaust to go along with it.

but then have am told ill need head gasket, head studs, new clutch, stage 2 axles, tranny mount, motor mount, and all that with labour is rediculous.

another note, i dont have lsd either, i think im gunna get screwed in the end..unless i find an amazing deal on everything ill need i dunno if i can take this project on.

Definetly going to need a new head gasket with a turbo, trust me on this one. ;) I also reccomend the Mahle 8.5-1 pistons as well.

i really wanted to do this for the summer but now i just feel confused on what to do. i might still do it but i just dunno how itll turn out. im just having doubts on how it will perform because im not mechanically inclined, so if i need to tweak it a lil or do any small job ill always have to bring it in.

see this is another thing, i have one person saying to go 8.5-1 another 9.5-1 and others saying use stock pistons till they blow (which i think is stupid)

Hell man I'm paying about 550.00 a month on my car and it hasn't seen the road since eary november of 06, it comes with the territory if you do use this kit then exspect to be paying out the ass for supporting mods or sell the kit and but all your internals and a Nitrous set up to make up for the HP's you would have gained with the twin charge. "If your going to PLAY exspect to PAY" the best advise to you I can give is get a sponser, their a couple of new vendors on the forums give them a call and see what you can work out. The Mahle 8.5:1 will not work Mahle Fucked up when they made them the wrist pins they have are 20MM and our lsj are 23MM, been their try those.

This might be a stupid question, but just hear me out, even if you put a turbo on the car as well as the supercharger, since the supercharger is where the air enters the intake wont you still be limited by the maximum air flow of the supercharger? it just seems like even with a turbo, you can only get a certain ammount of air in. full turbo just sounds like a better idea.

hmmmm that sounds interesting^^ but im not sure whats involved in sponsorship. im near toronto also not too much down here for that, not many companies out there here, and especially interested in sponsoring.

It really all depends on the capability of the turbocharger you want to run.

Yes sir that is correct you will be limited by the volumn of the supercharger.

well full turbo can yield more gains in the end, im not looking at 400+ hp tho. it already seems hard enough for this car to handle 350 ish so i wont want anything more than this twincharge kit.

i already got in contact with jbody performance, they dont seem too interested in sponsorship. and i dont want to trade my engine in once i buy one of thier builds.. i have to weigh my options some more, i really wanna do this but to tell the truth fwd really sucks as far as performance goes.. if i have no traction now just imagine what another 150hp would do.. i would have to launch in 3rd gear to get any traction at all.

You should by the GM intake manifold sell the M62 and go all turbo then.

I feel your pain with the traction issue I lost to a stock maxima cause I didn't get traction untill third gear, but he still only beat me by a car. One mod leads to hundreths of other mods.

if i go straight turbo its not going to change anything, the twincharge kit is already enough for me why why would i want to go straight turbo if i dont really want any more than 350 hp?

Less straigh on the motor since you wouldn't have the extra pulley to turn, plus it would be a hell of alot easyer to tune.

Also less launch problem since a turbo takes a couple seconds to spool

thats true but now that i have this kit with all piping itll cost me even more to fab up piping all over again. i dont want to spend more money if i dont need to. i dont care if i had to go single turbo because your right about it being easier to tune but what the hell do i do with all the piping.

crossed-over, this is your second thread saying the same thing. I think you first need to decide if you are going to build up your fwd car or not. If you are not going to, sell the kit to someone who will. If you are going to do the project, then either aim low and reduce the additional mod costs, or go for broke.
The traction issue is really a non-issue. Phase5 Cobalts push 500hp and Jason Whitfield is almost at 1,000hp on FWD cars. You either choose to pay to get the job done (as I have) or you bail out before it starts to get costly. You need to decide what whp you want to put down and then plan the project accordingly.
The first thing you really need to do is, "make up your mind what you want"
The second thing will then be easy, planning the project.
As far as sponsorship goes, don't give up asking. Just because JBP said no (they are really busy with mine) doesn't mean someone doesn't want to do something.
Lastly, even with sponsorship the cost does add up which is why I say again, first you need to choose what you want.:):)
