Need Transmission Help Please
 

Took my 2005 SS with the F35 manual into the shop for a new clutch. Replaced everything but the pedal is spongy and engages way high in the pedal travel. They changed out the hose to the master cylinder that causes many people issues (the original set up was a clip in hose, GM put out a service bulletin with an updated replacement part). What else could be causing the issue?

Note: Everything has been replaced. Clutch, slave, master, throw out bearing, brake fluid. ANy help would be appreciated. I need the car back this weekend to get back home and am trying to find a solution that my mechanic maybe didn't think or know about.

System most likely just needs bled better. Many people swear by the vacuum method. I prefer the two person method.

No visible leaks, right? Which clutch did you put in the car?

Engaging high is actually pretty typical; my '05 almost always engaged pretty close to the top.

Well, the high engagement is normal. They can rebleed to try to get the "spongy" feeling corrected, but if the clutch isn't dragging and is fully engaging/disengaging, that might just be how it's going to be for you. "Spongy" is a bit subjective, unfortunately.

Look under the dash, push the clutch in by hand, and see what the sheet metal around the master does.

If I remember, the SS/SC cars suffered from thin sheet metal there, allowing flex or even pushing the master itself out of the hole. The SS/TC cars received a silent update of that, and don't suffer the issue. Just something else to check quick.
