we don't know, but of course once the project is moving we will have stock and modified flow numbers similar to this:

This is like a press conference. So how do you guys plan on getting rid of the negative sereotype that the problem has about rebel. That they dont response to emails promptly and they are a bad vendor etc etc?

The design looks okay for starters. I know this is a very rough design..but a few things:

- The plenum will need much more volume post heat exchanger.
- The section where the common plenum is divided into individual runners will need some major attention. All that will have to by properly shaped and the runners will need to be radiused and blended (think of the collector in a header...except you are blowing air INTO the primaries).
- Sealing will be a slight challenge.
- Will it support it's own weight and the weight of the blower?

Thats one major factor. Its easy to make it look nice in CAD, but when you actually bolt it up and throw a 20lb blower on it with belt tension, and you ask those runner welds to hold up under that weight and vibration... I dunno.

with due respect to the vendor, good or bad, they only have half the folks in to start the project and expect to be finished in two months.

so: no money no product. those that have sent money thats a big risk , no product. get your money back? hmmmm.

will it work? not likely. GM may not be everyones favorite car company, but they have waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa aaaaaaaaay more engineering capability than a private independent company... so buyer beware. Likelihood of 20 buyers? nil. likelihood of a working part therefore? nil. LIkelihood of a performance improvement? yup, you guessed it.

So I re-read my post and decided that rebel needs to spend their own money screwing around with stuff they have little or no knwledge about, and not take advantange of lsj enthusiasts.
If they are a supporting vendor then this web site should consider if this is a scam or a midsguided project or both and take appropriate action as needed. This is my opinion.

1. we will try to fit as much volume in there as possible but the limitation is the amount of room left over. The stock manifold doesn't have much volume after the laminova's if you have ever taken it off and looked inside.

2. Yes the runners will have a fillet on the inside to reduce turbulence. We will have flow number before and after, so the design can be modified if needed.

3. we will have o-rings similar to our TB adapter built into the surfaces that mate.

4. Yes, there is a 10mm bolt that holds the lower manifold from the bottom which we estimate carries 80% of the forces. The primaries can be made of thicker
Al to support more. Again we will test everything and if something fails, we will figure out the problem.

well I'll assume your not an engineer...first off a company making an entire car has over a million component to worry about plus throw in the funding, standards, safety, emissions restrictions and you don't have time to do 100% testing on everything. For example you have a redline, get someone to pull your tune file and look at the PE, what you will see is a line that is anything but straight , if they took their time the PE should not look like that.

but back to the point, if you don't think we have the capability, knowledge and shear drive to make this thing work, you live in Ontario, come by and we will give you a few examples of things we've made.

I still think you should do this project without taking money from people on the forum. YOU ARE THE ONLY VENDOR THAT I'VE EVER HEAR THAT DOES THIS. WHY??????????????? Why not be like the other vendors and do the project yourself and then offer it to the community once you have a working product with test numbers and charts?

we have with no one interested after, take the ported head for example, it's done ready to ship with no one interested. We don't want the money to fund the project but more towards a commitment that people will stick.

Well in most circumstances that means the company doesn't have enough capital to front projects. Which is scary. Doesn't mean they don't know what they are doing, just means they are a bunch of broke asses

well put, that's the way i see it as well, its a way to somewhat insure yourselves against flakes. sucks, but on this forum, hate to say it, but it seems necessary.

The forum is full of people who say they want products, before they are produced. In fact they make threads asking vendors to make specific products.
But bottom line is that most of those people will not pay for the product once it is available. Having a firm commitment from enough buyers to make a product finacially viable is a prudent business plan.

How many people go in and order a brand new car, from the factory, and "don't" pay a deposit? That deposit is for your commitment to buy.

At the same time once a "buyer" makes a finacial commitment, the company taking the deposit also has to follow through on their commitment to the buyer. That commitment includes producing the product in a reasonable amount of time and providing updates along the way. Communication is very important in these type of projects but sadly too many companies fail in that aspect. We have all seen numerous companies not spend the time communicating and that does nothing but hurt their future business.

I think that it may be necessary for companies to actually enter into binding contracts for these type of projects to keep them on the ball, on time and on budget. This same contract would also hold the buyer responsible to follow through on their commitment to purchase. There was a time when a man's word was his bond but that too has sadly passed away.

okay, that's a really bad example. A ported head cost A LOT of money and there are a lot of people on this site that aren't smart enough to pull the engine apart to install it and then there are a few that don't want to pull the engine apart at all.

An intake manifold, is bolt on, everyone should be able to do it.

try again.

Based on the time it took to build my intake manifold/intercooler for the project car, I do not think these are going to be inexpensive. I actually expect that most people won't buy these due to cost even if they work well.
I base part of my opinion on the fact that this intake looks very similar in external design to my custom one.

the point still being that lots of money combined with someone that doesn't know how to pull an engine apart internally, you aren't going to have a lot of people buying those parts.

Intake manifolds are bolt on, it should sell quite a bit better than the heads.

Yeah everyone can bolt it on but as far as I know this intake manifold is going to cost over 500 bucks but under 1000; but the gains hopefully will justify the cost.

Thanks for your reply. I wont come by, I suspect you dont have the above credentials.Mine are sufficient to say I would not attempt this project, and I would not ask for money from forum members to fund it. Our shop has built maybe a dozen Cobalt race cars under contract to the manufacturer. I personally currently spend a ridiculous amount of time playing and experimenting with my Redline. Hard to beat the job GM did with this car, PARTICULARLY with the ECOTEC engine!

The time and money I spend is my own. I dont ask my customers to fund it...it looks like the majority of the posts here agree with that. I am sure you are an honest hardworking group, but the history of still born projects is long and sad, and the Victory Red RWD Cobalt saga is an example of a customer who did stand up and pay the way and still did not get the results he expected. So at the end of the day, I suggest trolling in another gene pool, what you offer and what folks in this forum will pay? Well these two points dont match up. Good luck.
