New High flow lower manifold
Thanks for your reply. I wont come by, I suspect you dont have the above credentials.Mine are sufficient to say I would not attempt this project, and I would not ask for money from forum members to fund it. Our shop has built maybe a dozen Cobalt race cars under contract to the manufacturer. I personally currently spend a ridiculous amount of time playing and experimenting with my Redline. Hard to beat the job GM did with this car, PARTICULARLY with the ECOTEC engine!
The time and money I spend is my own. I dont ask my customers to fund it...it looks like the majority of the posts here agree with that. I am sure you are an honest hardworking group, but the history of still born projects is long and sad, and the Victory Red RWD Cobalt saga is an example of a customer who did stand up and pay the way and still did not get the results he expected. So at the end of the day, I suggest trolling in another gene pool, what you offer and what folks in this forum will pay? Well these two points dont match up. Good luck.

do you happen to work for powell motorsports or georgian bay motorsports because from my experience as my brother races against them in touring cars they are the only ones in ontario that build cobalt race cars just wondering out of curiosity? and on a side note if you look at the pinky finger of rebels engineer that may tell you if he is a engineer or not you should go by and check there stuff out they actually have my car right now.

I may not be GM... but I know that manifold was a cheap-o job cause the penny pinchers were nipping at the engineering divisions ass. Six months ago, no one wanted to take this job on.... now when a vendor offers something, everyone ***** on them. WTF?
thanks for saying that so well. all these guys that are bashing need to take it elsewhere, i wish a mod would clean it up.
To be honest, if this was in their section it'd be a different story and I would agree with all of you....it is in the 2.0L LSJ Performance Tech and that means Technical Discussions ONLY!...basically disputing the relevance of this modification is kind of why this section is here.

Actually, yes, he does.
Also a valid point, IMHO.
Being a third party with experience dealing with both quickredline and Omega_5, I have to say, honestly, I respect both their opinions, and having quite a lot into my own research on this PITA intake manifold, it seems quite obvious to me, that both:
A) doing anything with the stock casting is going to be very time consuming.
B) anything that is suggested on this site by any vendor that is not clean and simple gets **** on.
Thus, we have the chicken or the egg scenario of the last year. Personally, I have not worked with Rebel myself. However, I have worked with some of the people who design for Rebel and use Rebel as a retailer, and have not had any issues with them.

thanks for that comment Shab, but like Ralliartist i am done also. The fact is it does not matter if this mainfold works or not, I beleive and will speak up as a member, if it looks as if someone (vendor or not) is trolling on the forum to get money to fund an idea that has not been proven. Doing this under the title "group buy" or whatever, and saying that 2 have paid and 18 more are needed, BEFORE WORKS STARTS, well thats just wrong. What happens to the money paid if others dont come in etc etc.? This is not a good thing IMHO But again like Ralliartist I am done with this thread.
This site never fails to amaze me... Everyone bitches about how we dont have a aftermarket worth a **** and they wonder why? This should have been one of the first things made for the cobalt...
This car was slapped together quickly. It has a motor that was already used in the turbo saabs with a supercharger kit on it from the cavalier days. Come on love my car but the intake manifold is one of the places gm cut some corners... And a company is trying to fix that and everyone is giving them ****.
I am surprised anyone still designing **** for the lsj...
**** we are on our third generation ricer halo headlight design but god for bid someone tries to give us a little more performance by creating a new intake manifold...

It's obvious that the LSJ is a Frankenstein motor that GM knew they could market here in North America. Unfortunately, the OEM junk they used is literally junk.
the engine itself is good... they didnt spend a lot of time on it unlike the lnf... And why would they for 2 different model cars... 3 if you count the atom.
Exactly. It's the stuff they bolted to the motor that sucks. Why would they sell a car with a restrictive IM, and a blower that is out of the efficiency range from factory?
i dont know that whole story so i can cant say anything. I remember the twin screw and it kinda just disappeared...

Yeah... they called up the Saab division and slapped on an SC.
I know for a fact that GM built the LSJ to be a 'short term solution'.
Yeah turbo motors make power, but most have powerbands that peak way to early and die out up top. Even with the small turbos they can't touch the response and smooth consistent torque of a supercharged motor.
The LSJ may not be the most powerful around, but it sure has plently of driving enjoyment
