nornal iat question

I've been reading that normal iat2 numbers are 20degree higher than temp outside? Is this accurate

Yes and no.

I would say my iat2 is 20 above iat. Ive noticed from time to time that the iat1 will be a few degrees higher than wat the outside temp is.
Now this is a different story if ur doin a pull.

Well I don't really get on the balt too often, when I do yes it jumps but falls quickly , but I was just curious for cruising temps not stuck in traffic or doin pulls if that general area was correct

Comparing IAT2's is like trying to compare boost.

Too many variables can alter results.

Generally though while cruising anywhere between 20-30 over IAT1 is fine. During a pull you want to see sub 140's.

Fast recovery is key.

while idling my iat2 goes up to 40-50 degrees over iat1 (which is usually right about at ambient)

cruising i see 15-30 over

and during a pull i usually dont look till after and its around 130-140

i got all deh cooling mods though. but a leak in my system. small. but its there

my setup: 2.8", 60#s, opt b, dual pass, ottp stg1 h/e, 5 gph meth injection, and phelonic manifold spacer

Those are perfectly normal IAT2's.

The addition of a dual pass aids in recovery. Not so much IAT2 temp level.

I have flowthru opt B, phenolic, dual pass, ottp FMIC, 14gph 50/50

I see 18-23deg above ambient, doesnt mater idle or cruising
After a pull I see 25-35deg above ambient temps

I did 3 back to back pulls one day and saw temps 10deg above ambient...i giggled

will be stepping to 2.6" pulley and 20gph 50/50 when I get my head back in the next couple days.

I ended up buying a stealth H/E on blackfriday. a local buddy coverted his LSJ with a LNF stock turbo setup. So I scored a awesome deal and swapped my dualpass for his zzp single pass intake manifold

Ill see 20-30 degrees IAT1 IAT2 difference at idle
16-18 degrees difference while cruising on the highway
16-25 if im in the city hitting traffic lights
and I haven't seen over 132F on the IAT2 on WOT runs
ZZP singlepass / ZZP stealth heatexchanger / ZZP Phenolic spacer
but I haven't experienced any real hot summer days yet with this new setup.

I used to run zzp dual pass / zzp S3/ ZZP option B / ZZP phenolic spacer and my IAT2s ranged from 20-30 while cruising
20-45 in the city with traffic n such
ive seen 145 at the end of WOT runs

IAT2s are a bit lower with my new setup. but the recovery time of my IAT2 after WOT was the most noticeable change.

Ok so on the way home...

Ambient temp: 80
Idling: 30-40 dregree difference
Cruising any speed: never under 25 over iat1. Actual iat2 stayed 105 pretty much
1st-3rd pull: hit about 144, was under 110 about a minute after while still cruising

I just think my numbers could be much better

When it's hot as ***** out, just stay out of the throttle. Simple solution.

I didnt mean you can't give it throttle, but on super hot days it's best not to beat on the car.

I'm happy to live in Northeastern PA. Temps only get hot for a short period of time. Most of the time it's nice and mild.
