Well I'm finally starting the project. Started the swap here this evening. Going to be running the s256. Don't have enough done yet to justify the 257.

Anyone install a treadstone intercooler from OTTP yet? I've got 2 brackets, 4 bolts, and no nuts. Not too sure how to make that work out

To answer my own question, it definitely does not mount to the bottom of the crash bar. Didn't make much sense in my mind to locate it 1/2 behind it, but it looks like that's the design. I got the brackets in there last night and got everything in there, it's going to be one hell of a tight fit. Now for everyone to giggle at my stupidity.

I had a cut cross bar on my car already, still hangs pretty low though. I've bashed it pretty bad a few times already pulling into driveways. didn't crack thankfully.

So yours is mounted within the cross bar (for lack of a better expression) rather than tucked in between the bar and the ac condenser? My initial thoughts are to trim the bar so that it mounts a bit nicer on the inside, but that won't really be that effective with only half of the intercooler seeing airflow. Looks like I'll be cutting most of the middle of the bar out actually.

yeah mines up in the bar itself, didn't line up too well the other way, but that probably explains why I had some issues getting my charge pipes lined up at first.

Thanks man. I'm considering just notching the inside of the crash bar out. I really like your way however as it actually allows air to get to the intercooler. It just doesn't seem right blocking it half off lol.

we had been testing different bumper designs last summer for the sc setup to get max airflow to the heat exchangers, just happened to work out perfectly for the fmic too lol. Might toss the other bumper back on since it's cut to match the cut out in the crash bar.

Nice, I saw that settup reading through your build thread. That car's gone through a ton of transformations. I got it mounted last night. Found a different mounting point that required no cutting whatsoever. Half of the IC is still blocked, however no cutting required. I'm curious to see if that effects things or not. I also got hot side piping roughed in. Getting cold side on tonight, connecting sensors and vac lines. Going to clean the bay up tomorrow and fire it up friday. Then she goes back down to get the return style put on.

and that was just over the summer lol. not to mention the last 10 years of modding it.
and good to hear man, and it's a pretty efficient intercooler, so just having some of it blocked shouldn't cause any issues. plus it's a turbo, we don't have the retarded heat output of the supercharger crew to deal with.

Lol I'm coming from TVS, with really not much in terms of cooling mods, so I'm all too familiar with heat soak.
I know you got tires in a few weeks back, have ya had a chance to get them on and have some fun actually putting the power to the ground?

^^^ Lol. And black, what's the orientation of the lower piece of hot side piping. It really doesn't seem to want to go in, either way I orient it. I seem to be hiting an ac line next to the abs module. And actually the more I get into it, the less any of this charge pipe lines up with the Treadstone intercooler.

Now that I'm digging deeper into it, it seems like none of the charge piping lines up right with the treadstone. Cold side doesn't fit either. Off by a few inches from where it needs to be.

Almost seems like these are the wrong bends leaving the intercooler.

I had some issues with the hot side and that ac line. a few beers and a long prybar later it fits better. still have some tweaking to get it just right, but waiting til I have the car back apart next weekend.
I have a different fmic on my car, my outlets go back (lnf intercooler) so my piping is a bit different there.

That sounds like it'll be the plan. Last night I was just in a pissed off mood and didn't want to start bending things while angry lol.
And I saw that. That's part of the reason that I feel the 90° bends may be too short. I know that the ZZP intercoooler discharges out the rear, and their 90° bends are longer, and that Josh's kit was based around ZZP's design a bit. I'm hoping to hear from him today and get this resolved soon.

did you try it with the 90's right off the intercooler? that might help put it where it needs to be

I'm assuming that you're talking about the 90° coupler right off the intercooler? That may work, but from the intercooler, there's a reducer before the hard 90. I'd need a different coupler to make it work.

I'm having a problem boosting and need help. If anybody know what could be wrong or anything let me know... I can only boost 2.5 psi peaked. If I take the vacume line off the bypass acuator I can boost about 10psi but takes time to peak(5000rpm). My bypass acuator in not stuck and moves freely ( while engine is off). I have no check engine light or anything. I don't want to break down and take it to the dealer just to have it diagnosed. And don't just want to throw money at it expecting it to fix my problem. (Don't want to waist money). Car runs fine but is a little rough at idle . what's weird is I can still hear it whine just not nearly as load. If it was a belt wouldn't I hear it? Could it possibly be in like a limp mode? I pegged my rpm meter around 2 weeks before this happend. Could have I put it in some kinda mode where I won't let me boost over? If anybody has experienced the same problem please let me know.
