I tried the twincharge idea.... it was a headache. (ignore the sig have not had a chance to get a new one) I would suggest just go turbo. I had boost spike issues, random CELs, other issue I didnt know if the Blower or the turbo was causing. I just pulled the blower off and ran turbo. Best decision IMO. Easier to tune too.

IATs were really high even with both Air to Air and dual pass water to air on a stock blower pulley.

Only thing really awesome was the instant TQ. I would just step on the gas and instantly get about 20 psi. lol.

Im on the fence for either a tvs/ e85 tune or a turbo kit. A tvs build is way cheaper then building a turbo kit unless someone can tell me how to make 350whp with a good turbo kit i might stick SC cuz i like the whine and the instant power i get.

abuddy of mine has full bolt ons tvs e85 tune hes making 355whp and 300 FTP for tq and i like those numbers. Just thinking out the best route

4grand is a hard pill to take down with no water lol. That and upgrading all the interals and what not just seems like alot of freakin money.

if you have an lsj you can safely make 400whp as long as you dont abuse the hell outta ur car. it all depends on how reliable your tune is and what the car is used for. if its ur DD i suggest that at 400whp on stock internals not to abuse the car as much no so much for the motor, but more for the tranny too. but blazzin here has been over 400whp on the zzp kit, and other members i know are very high 3s or low 4s and well we have EXsoccer making 600whp+ lol. but starting power for a turbo lsj is between the 340-360whp and no E85, meth, cooling mods, none of that crap. wanna go over 4s just put up the boost

when on a tvs yes they get to the 350whp range but thats about with everysingle bolt on, cooling mod, E, Meth, high timing(which isnt too reliable to me) and decent to agressive tunning...from what ive seen...and if you want good to decent power instantly then dont go and put a GT42r or a precission 6262 and get a decent size turbo that spools fast and delivers great power.

you can do it for under $4000 easily, the parts are there if you spend your time doing research and buying things from the correct places. You don't need a super large turbo to get to 350whp, the 20g or even the E3B16G can get you there with quick spool times, a gt3076r will do it, or the s2xx BWs will do it.

I spent a **** ton on my kit because I went over the top. Im currently helping build a kit for another cobalt and we are keeping the cost way lower than what mine was.

PD

s/c is ok but a s/c dont belong on a 4 cylinder imo. ask any performance shop they'll tell you the same thing. s/c dudes will rant and rave boost lag and whatever, but at the end of the day A. if you get a proper turbo the lag is almost non existant..B. who needs a **** ton of power down low on a fwd car.......

Ya thats true. Ive always been an SC guy so all i know is the SC. I really dont know much about turbo or how to build a kit or what i need. I know what to do to build up a tvs and what not. I can honestly admit i get afraid when i look at turbo stuff lol, I know soudns kind of silly but to me i see all this stuff and I just think dam i will never be able to put a kit together. I wouldnt even know where to look for some of those turbos and parts.

i feel like a lamer lol. I suscribed to the thread by the way so maybe i can learn a thing or 2 about our cars and turbo. and yess i do have an lsj to clear that up an yes its my DD i would be happy with 300-350whp thats all i really want. An i take it to the track maybe 2-3 times a year thats about all the beating i give it.

for good reason.
anything goes wrong you have to deal with one company, the headaches of putting your own kit together and gathering piece by piece is gone. so many little things that add up are included. they'll help you out with any questions. could go on but i think you get the point.
sure you can throw your own kit together for a grand or two less, 9/10 times it's going to be sub-par in comparison.

just go with ZZP, I saw Soccers car yesterday at ZZP and stopped and talked to him for a bit, even sat in it haha. But it sounds amazing with S2 cams, ZZP by far would be your best bet for parts, questions, and safety. Plus if your second guessing putting money into the car, then don't mod it, that's the simple answer.

lol, sounds like he needs to familiarize with his car and learn to drive it. In his defense, it's not going to be easy with that huge turbo and super peaky power band. I thought it felt slow, too, except for brief spurts where everything was just right.

Ah, ok. I thought you were commenting on the laggy turbo setup.
If it were up to me, he would have a 256 on there, and 4.45 trans. It would make that car a lot more fun on the street.

Still looks and sounds sexy though total sleeper. I did not get to ride in it, but be was not wanting to really boost it either. Still quality work, which is why only zzp touches my car imo.

Whats some of the best turbo kits out for the lsj right now other then zzp im trying to keep my options open. How is BYT ? I just dont want to make a mistake of turboing my DD and then having it not be reliably....I just want power really bad. An dont tell any of the sc guys this but after hearing the Sneeze and hearing it spool up then the realse of that BOV i wanted to Faceplam my forhead for staying SC.

BYT is "in house" install only so I'd scratch them off your list unless you plan on driving to pennslyvania. I'm looking to go turbo too and the best/easiest route so far is zzp. As much as I want the power now I don't plan on picking up their kit until after the holidays, you gotta buy smart. Who knows maybe there will be a deal on black Friday or during tax return season....that's usually the time I see vendors putting out good deals. Or you could piece together your own kit with used kits that will eventually be up in the marketplace. The kids on this site tend to lose interest in cobalts real quick.
