Boost

I have just recently got my 06SS and im wondering about the boost. I thought I read a couple posts on here about it but im not sure. If im in neutral and I rev my engine should I see 12.5lbs of boost? When I rev it, its only at about 8 maybe?

Does this engine take time to bring in just right?

Ive been babying it and do some revs and some aggresive hits here and there.

Just curious!

Do you have enough fuel to run that kind of level?

it's not going to hit 12.5 psi unless the engine is under load, it's because the engine flows so freely it doesn't have enough time to build the boost that high. it's sort of like when you put on new parts such as cai's headers, exhausts, that will not raise your boost level, and usually will lower it a small amount. blower porting and headwork usually drop the boost down substantially, but the air flows so easily it doesn't need to have that much boost, cause it does it more effeciently.

hope that didn't confuse you cause i started to confuse myself lol

didnt confuse me, thats exactly right, it isnt about how much boost you run, its about how free it flows and how efficient it is. and yah, what selfinfliction said, you wont see full boost, becuase the superchargers have to build boost, and it doesnt have enough time to build full boost with just a rev

Actually the Eaton superchargers make full boost by 2000rpm.

You must have load on the engine before it will make significant boost.

Thanks for clearing it all up. Ive never owned a boost vehicle before so I was curious. So the only time I might see 12 or 12.5 is if im running it hard?

You'll see full boost in the upper rpm ranges.
