question about spark plugs

this may have been asked before but i could not find a thread on it. if it was been posted before just post a link and i will read it up for the answer

i know that adding horsepower to a engine creates more IAT temp, thus we have inter cooler's and the suck other cooling mods. my question is if i get a colder stage plug will that also help the IAT temp? or will it not matter. just curious about this. thanks for the info

The IAT temp is measured at the MAF near your air filter, so no.
The IAT2 is what increases as boost is made, and it is measured by your MAP on top of the intake manifold.

Colder plugs help to remove heat more quickly from the combustion chamber. This will help reduce KR and the like, but really doesn't do anything for IAT's. If you want to lower your IAT2 you need cooling mods such as H/E, dual pass, meth, etc...

What you are asking are two different things, just like how engine coolant temp has nothing to do with the intercooler system temperatures and IAT's

No problemo. Do you understand now?

With your Stage 2 setup you should run one step colder plugs...
NGK Copper: BKR7E
NGK Iridium: BKR7EIX

If these plugs are recommended then why does GM not include them in the stage kit ?

^^ If you want a serious answer to that question, ask whichever engineer working on making the GM Stage Kits left them out..? It has been discussed countless times on this forums, and colder plugs are even mentioned in GM Build Books. My car runs like ******* knocking like a **** on anything else other than 2 step colder plugs with my tune...

Yea pick up a set of the NGK BKR7E's from somewhere. They are only about $10 here in the states. Not sure about where you live though.

That is weird... I run a 2.7" pulley, and my car will not run WOT without 2 step colder plugs. If I run 1 step colder or stock the combustion temps are too high and it pings like crazy and I got lots of KR and hiccups.

Every car is different, but the general rule of thumb is to run colder plugs. Hundreds of people on here do it. Read up about it online, it is usually necessary with FI application with more power.

You might have needed to mess with the plug gap of those colder plugs. You could have been getting spark blowout with the increased boost. I would try some new NGK coppers 1 step colder gapped smaller...
