quick forged piston rod question

will this 2.2 kit fit the lsj block, after looking at the build book the only thing i know to be different that would cause an issue is the piston to bore clearance is smaller on the 2.2 pistons vs the lsj, and they both use the same bore. it would seem that the bearing end of the rods are the same size as well, but the pin size is smaller on the 2.2, but of course the aftermarket pistons and rods would be sized together i assume. im sure this has been asked, i looked it up and alot of the answers are about the pin clearances i only care about the piston to block clearances. |
I'm honestly not sure myself. But if you're looking for pistons or rods (or both) for your lsj, I have both on sale (bnib) if you're interested.

the 2.2 uses the same bore and a .033 longer rod and a longer stroke crank the part will physicaly fit and work but as for the comp ratio I couldent tell you. you would be better off buying the correct stuff for the lsj as it has a different rod length and a shorter stroke

Mrb is right.
If u do the math u might be able to buy a hella thick hg to make it work. But its now worth it just use the correct parts for ur engine. |
Would that be a good kit for my Turbo 2.2LAP?
|
Oh ya..
Im not sure wat the difference is between the lap and l61 I would think the bottom end parts r interchangeable. I think the LAP has a different head |

You should just buy forged pistons and then buy sleeves through mrB. Do it the right way, and you def. Won't be disappointed

im only running a t3/t4 so i figure stock engine should be good to about 350whp after seeing everyone else's success. |
the thing with the sleeves is just dropping a set of forged pistons in the stock bore the piston to cylinder wall clearance is more then likely going to be to loose and if there is to much taper and the bore is out of round the rings wont seat in as good as they should
|
You need a 2.2 crank to use that kit. If its an LSJ engine you would need the pickup wheel off the LSJ crank also

I can get you molnar rods and diamond pistons for $815, if you want k1 rods just add $25. We normally stock these parts also.
