Review of: Revised Shifter Bracket for LSJ
#27
FOUND THE ISSUE why some are having difficulty removing the cables from the bracket: As you access the shifter bracket through the wheel well, the cable bracket that is closest to the drivers side (the lower cable/3-4 gear) can't be removed until the cable above and behind it (1-2 gear) is released from the bracket first. The slide on the upper cable, due to clearance issues, keeps the lower (3-4 gear) cable from popping out of the bracket.
Do yourselves a favor and unbolt the upper and lower bracket assembly, pull the lower bracket out of the car, so that you can maneuver the upper cable bracket around and release the upper/1-2 gear cable FIRST. Now the lower one will pop out when released.

Confirmed, it is easier to do the bracket swap when you loosen the 1/2 cable (passengers side most cable) first.
I did my swap a few days ago, and it definitely helped out with shifter feel on my stock shifter, but not a huge amount. Worth it for the cost and time/effort though!
