royal purple trans fluid?
royal purple trans fluid?
anyone have royal purple or any other high performance fluid for their transmission? I want to start building my cobalt into a beast, but afraid the little crappy transmission cannot handle it. I do not have money for an lsd so that is not an option. Anyone do anything to prevent their trans from taking a dump such as royal purple ect....would like to hear your thoughts.
there was a post on this and gm says they rate the trans fluid with rl or tl or what ever rating 3 and mobil 1 and royal purple are 5+ and are alot better the deal who installed my clutch put new gm stuff in it and it feels like **** now and now ima have to run royal purple
maybe not "crappy", but it really doesn't handle alot of hp. I was talking to a chevy dealer mechanic and he was telling me that "these transmissions cannot handle alot of power, you would need lsd or trans swap for big power". big power is my guess of 310hp plus.
I guess it is gm fluid all day every day!
anyone know what the spec are for the turbo 08-2010 transmissions and can verify they are the same?
dude dont listen to a dealer mechanic. sorry to say but most of them are just parts changers that know nothing about specifics in these cars. there are plenty of people in the +400whp and +350wtq range. the SC and TC transmissions are exactly the same minus the taller final drive in the TC trans
Use the factory stuff or Redline 75W90NS ONLY.
So he said an LSD would help the transmission gain a higher torque rating?
Disregard anything this tech has ever told you.

Huh? are you agreeing with me? nonetheless where is my beer?! Sorry I do not know alot about the cobalt, I bought it like a week ago.
Just do your research, search around the site, and read up on what others have posted. The car has been around for 5 years now. Most everything has been done before, and you can find out alot by others posts.
did you post this before??? or am I having dejavu? I swear to god that exact statement I read on here somewhere......huh (walks to the bathroom to have a cigarette with very confused look on face)
