royal purple trans fluid?

anyone have royal purple or any other high performance fluid for their transmission? I want to start building my cobalt into a beast, but afraid the little crappy transmission cannot handle it. I do not have money for an lsd so that is not an option. Anyone do anything to prevent their trans from taking a dump such as royal purple ect....would like to hear your thoughts.

well gm is always the best, but for hard driving the trans in performance applications don't you think a performance fluid would be best. Of course you would have to find the right spec fluid for the trans, which I assume the person that the trans dumped didn't do. Most people go 'royal purple, this is good stuff', but fail to get the rarity of the performance fluid for their trans application. idk.

stick with the GM fluid. you can upgrade to the 2.0 LNF(2008-2010 turbo cobalt) trans fluid if you would like. apparently its much better than the LSJ trans fluid

maybe not "crappy", but it really doesn't handle alot of hp. I was talking to a chevy dealer mechanic and he was telling me that "these transmissions cannot handle alot of power, you would need lsd or trans swap for big power". big power is my guess of 310hp plus.

I guess it is gm fluid all day every day! anyone know what the spec are for the turbo 08-2010 transmissions and can verify they are the same?

dude dont listen to a dealer mechanic. sorry to say but most of them are just parts changers that know nothing about specifics in these cars. there are plenty of people in the +400whp and +350wtq range. the SC and TC transmissions are exactly the same minus the taller final drive in the TC trans

So he said an LSD would help the transmission gain a higher torque rating?

Disregard anything this tech has ever told you.

You have no idea how hard I'm laughing right now. Thanks for that, I owe you a beer for this one. Ahahahahaha

Please continue. 310hp is way too much for our trans. That's why they didn't come with over 310hp from the factory. Duh.

I was just laughing, don't mind me.

Just do your research, search around the site, and read up on what others have posted. The car has been around for 5 years now. Most everything has been done before, and you can find out alot by others posts.
