Are silicone hoses crap?

Are silicone hoses less abrasion resistant than good old rubber hoses. I saw a few threads from a frayed supercharger belt whip against a silicone hose and it cut right thru it. Are they junk?

They are superior in all ways except abrasion and cost. If you're abrading any type of hoses then you're doing it wrong

If you expect destruction then it may be wise to cover the hose with a sheath
like this maybe like this maybe

Thanks! Im not buying them if thats the case because you never know where it may flex and rub. The stock ruber lines last for decades anyway.
