Well from what Josh said, the ported head will just allow me to get the gains I want without having to pulley down as much putting more strain on the motor.

And wont push the fuel system as hard.

If you can do cams I would, if not still do the springs and rev it out. Even if your power starts dropping off a little reving out to 7800 or whatever you plan to rev to you will still be making more power up there than you would be shifting gears and being at say 5000 rpms. It will also bring you into a better spot in the powerband when you shift to the next gear.

FWIW on stock cams my power was still climbing at 7600 rpms when I cut it off. Looked like it was about leveling off up there. My head flows well though.

Yeah what pulley are you on? Did you need the id1000's or were you just getting them for later?

Im on a 2.7. I was getting high 90%'s IDC on the 2.9 pulley on 80's on the stock head reving to 7200 rpms during the fall, so I'm assuming a fall blend of E85. I only ran my TVS on the 80's and stock head for maybe a month at most. I figured I'd try my hand at the 1000's since I knew I'd need them eventually and only a few people had ran them and Elite_Cyborg was selling his so I took them off his hands. this was over 2 years ago already. I most likely could have gotten by on the 80's without a RSFS on the ported head reving to 7400 while on stock valve springs, but I decided to take the sure thing and get the 1k's. I dropped to a 2.7 a few months later and know that the 80's on the stock fuel system wouldn't have cut it then. I now have a walbro and will be installing my RSFS soon to go with the cams and 8k rev limit, so there will be no fueling issues for sure now. I think 80's and a RSFS will get you the fueling you need for your plans though, I'm just thinking ahead for me.

Yep, Josh thinks it will suffice, but if the IDC's are too high Ill just pulley up. not a big deal. Thanks for sharing the info though. Not sure how high he will set it to rev yet.

I dont think even if I pullied up I could test the cams to their full potential on the 80's and the stock longblock. And I am not made of money
