Sms Tb

Installed my Saturn Motorsports TB tonight. Install was pretty straight forward/easy. I posted instructions on install in the How-To section. There are also some pics of the TB in the How-To post. Cost about $300. You get $150 back when you return your stock unit for a core. The roughness of the stock TB is completely removed on the SMS unit and the bore is increased 3-4mm. I just took it for a quicky drive and I thought it felt like the power delivery was smoothed a little bit. Didn't really notice a power gain but I wasnt really looking for that. I was mostly concerned with not have a CEL or a running problem !

wow, thats it 3-4mm increase. they should go 10mm for the s/c. i know the 2.4 tc opens up big time with a 10mm increase, isnt that right eric, 97cavie24ls.

I think my SVTF TB was something like 5-10mm... but you have to remember that the SS/SC has an electronic TB (throttle by wire) so they cant just create a new throttle body without having to spend MAJOR $$$$.... and you only have some much metal you can remove from the stock unit.... I just got to compliment the SC when I get it ported... I dont think its going to yield any real performance gains... besides I had money to burn and there arent many mods out at the moment... so I said what the heck... Its not going to hurt anything thats for sure !

ah thats right i forgot the drive bywire thing. thats true. luckily stock 2.4tc t/b has enough meat on it to beable to bore to 62mm sleeved.

n/a it didnt change mytimemuch going from the stock 52mm to the 59mm ive got , but with the s/c i went from a best of 16.0 @ 83 , to a best of 14.88 @ 92

and id like to get a 62 or 65 , but for a true size tb it has to be a custom milled and machine complete tb , not a bore job

The SVTF had a 65mm TB stock, however, that was at the opening. It gets smaller as the air flows down. I bought the FS 65mm, and it was noticably larger in the "deep" part of the unit over stock.
