Spark plug gap for 2.8"
Like the title says, I'm running NGK 1 step colder plugs(heat range 6). What gap should I change them too? They are iridium, so I know I have to be careful when gapping them.
Mods: 2.8" pulley 60lb injectors dual pass frozenboost dual core h/e knn intake pacesetter header modified lsj dp Megan catback(oval muffler w/magnaflow tip) ttr poly tranny bushings ttr poly engine mount working with vince on my tune, here's what he said: "There are two things happening here. * 1)****** It’s still too rich 2)****** The knock sensors are picking up noise the ECM thinks is spark knock and its sending the timing into the basement * #2 could be because of #1 though (if it is real knock).*" I have double checked every wire, gasket and bolt. Mechanical it's all good to go. Just Need to figure this spark knock. |
use copper plugs they work better but they need to be changed every oil change
|
We don't have a copper option, im a 2.2, I have looked and I can't find Cooper plugs.
|
2.8" pullies should be 0.035" I believe...

2.8 on a 2.2 thats a risky one.

Are you running LFR6A-11 like alot of other boosted 2.2/2.4's? If so, those are copper plugs. Also, mine lasted 20k before i replaced as preventative maintenance.
edit: yea i can't read apparently as you said iridium in first post! Maybe switch to the coppers I mentioned then, which are also 6 heat range. |

the 2.2 in my hhr is deeper
the threads is hella long. i still dont see no evidence of changing the coppers every oil change. |
Mine are .032
|
Mine are 0.032 as well
|
i also run .032, BRK7E Cu
JN2 how much timing are you runnng? Commanded vs. actual? Do you have aggressive mounts that cause severe vibes? This can be picked up as knock what is your A/F ratio say? 60s are pretty bad at getting choppy at idle. |

yup mine are .032 also work well
|
I was having issues with any gap > .035 and boost blowout hesitation, 0.032 feels perfect for a 2.8" pulley. I'll stay at this gap from here out.
