Finally a nice pic of an airbox mod!! :twothumbs
|
dam that box is ruined if you ever need to go back to stock
|
Only time I had to go back to stock is after my cavy was totaled. I took off everything I put on it and kinda left the stock stuff there as is. I don't think the airbox hidden away in the fender is gonna be the first thing they see when someone looks at your car. So I think it'll be pretty safe if you would ever have to go back to "stock mode"
|
Edit the 1st post and put claimed gains, and fitment/cel information.

Both of those intakes just look peiced together. The welds on that JBP are fugly. Sorry guys but Injen has the looks on lock, maybe not the fitment though...

Isn't 3.0" a bit excessive? Seems no more than 2.5" would be necessary, no? Just a thought. :)

if i ever need to go back to stock (not that i will being that i financed the car), ill just put one up at a junkyard or order one. hell, cant be more than $50-75. so, itll still end up being cheaper than the injen priced at 220.00. i have more pics of the box, i just edited post and put them in
|
added the intakes to the top post
|
Does anybody have the fujita F5? Becides being a little pricey how does it perform? and can some one please explane what a CEL is and waht it effects(dash lights, dealer fix? ect.). Would the stage I upgrade fix it because is it not just a reflash? Thanks*
|

CEL= Check Engine Light:twothumbs Don't feel bad it took me weeks to figure that out!! |

Isn't the fujita 3 inches (actually a bit more I think) At any rate the size of the fender well hole is the limiting factor as to why so many are less than 3 inches in diameter. If you want a one peice intake you need to be like 2.75 inches. |
if u want to do teh airbox mod.. just get a 3.5" AEM or K&N (preferably the dryflow) cone filter. dont cut the airbox at all and just slip it on the lip and tighen and keep the bottom off. to top it all off, the bottom fits with the cone filter so if u want to take it to the dealer u can keep ur filter on just screw the bottom back on. this is what i did on mine, and u can def hear it whine. no CEL, no problems, no cutting. :cssNET:

I was just wondering just a question. I herad with adding an ftermarket intake like the fujita or the others you will get a cel come on? Is that true or not?

Instead of wasting a post like above, from what i've seen, K&N has been popular to give the CEL. Injen has been more lucky. I still haven't gotten a CEL and i'm using injen. I believe fujita also has a high CEL rate, but I didn't read up much on that one.
Other people do the "airbox mod" and claim cel's only come in close to freezing temperature. I believe theres a "how-to" for it in the correct section of the board. |

Other people do the "airbox mod" and claim cel's only come in close to freezing temperature. I believe theres a "how-to" for it in the correct section of the board. The intake mod does not only get a CEL in cold temps. I was running it with a K&N filter last fall (60-70 F) when my light came on. The circumstances were very similar to the latest time my Injen intake threw a code. I was driving like 25 mph in second for a VERY long period of time on city/military base roads. The light never went out with the airbox mod but with my injen as soon as i got some good airflow and like 2 restarts the light was out and has been for over a month. It was only the second time the light has come on it the 4 months or so i ahve had the intake. |
anybody have any idea of which air intake is the better one. what kind of result with the injen intake.

i am getting a injen cold air intake this week and was wondering what people have to say about it. like what kind of horsepower and torque gains does it give.
|
well my intake is installed and i have the older one with the tube that pushes the filter into the bumber. i was wondering where people contacted injen to get the revised tube. i emailed injen and waiting a response.
on a side note, i have been fighting wiht my cel since i put this intake on. but i think i found out my problem. make sure your clamps are tight. i think mine loosened up, after i tighten them up and re-fit the tube, cel goes away under 5 minutes |

You can get the cai from cobalt-addiction.com, you can see more pictures of my car in the members ride section, or pictures and videos.

In my case the maf was reading low and that caused a CEL. |
