Stock Boost Psi?
Stock Boost Psi?
Ok First off i have a 2006 Cobalt SS/SC it has no stage kit. I was wanting to know what the stock boost psi is supposed to be? It's running about 5psi at WOT. i did search for the stock psi but all i could find was stage 2 psi. thanks
The cars do not need to be broken in. They should boost around 11.5-12.5 depending on location. No way should it boost only 5psi. Take that in and get it checked out. The gauge may be off. LEts hope the gauge is off.
like when i first bought my car i ran a 9.26 and tonight i ran a 10.50 in the 1/8th mile it just doesnt perform like it did.... but yall are sure that it should be boosting 11.5lbs psi stock ? keep in mind i have the stock pulley and no stage kits
ive checked the rubber line no crack and it appears there all on.... about three months ago i took my car in for a cel and they said it was bc i was over revin it could they have lowered the boost? with out me knowin?
can anyone tell me whats wrong with my car?

There is only one way to lower boost. That is with a larger pulley. They would not change the pulley. Also, do not let them push you around like that. You won't get a cel for overreving. That is what a rev limiter is for. Take it in to your dealer and tell them to fix it. It should be boosting around 12psi. I boost like 15psi with stage II.
With only 10k on your car I would hope it has a warrenty. Bring it into the dealership and they can tell you whats wrong. It is kinda hard for us to tell you what is wrong with limited info.

yea i bought the car brand new and have the 100000 mile or 5 year warranty like all new cars....... i guess ill take it up there monday.... about 2 months ago i hit a dog and changed the radiator and intercooler. i highly doubt that could caused this problem tho.
Was everything exactly the same as the first run? If not then don't worry about it.
Wait a sec, do you mean WOT at redline? You realize the boost build is directly related to your RPM. You won't see 12.5 psi until close to 5K rpm. If you're driving through town it's common to see boost around 5 - 6 psi as your not going to get on it with traffic..
ok on the intercooler theres only 2 hoses that go on and inwhich fluid travels and i have no leaks... from talkin to jackolupe we came up with.... a couple of months ago i pulled the bottom cap off of my airbox and left the stock filter on i think my filter is clogged imma gonna pull it off asap but im not real sure how to? does it just push on? or do i have take the whole box out? if so do i do that?
NE one got any ideas?

The stock filter is just stuck on, it isn't held by any clamps or anything like that... but if I remember correctly from reading some of the threads about doing the airbox mod leaving the bottom of your stock airbox off without a clamp or something is a very bad idea because the filter could just fall off...
I could be wrong tho, just my .02

well your intercooler system cant be causing the pressure leak since its a water to air intercooler not an air to air intercooler. A clogged filter atleast from normal debri shouldnt cause that big of a PSI drop. Check your boost bypass valve for cracks in it. If thats fine id suggest buying a new PSI guage or having someone with HPtuners check your engine out.
yeah i just got a 06 ss/sc with 7500 miles on it and at wot i hit around 10 psi maybe alittle under like 9.8- 9.9 right now the car is in fl, could it be cause of the heat that i dont get over 10?
i put both manly 87 but i run a tank on 93 every week. the only think ive done different is took the bottom off the airbox. jackolupe thinks its a clogged air filter..... there is no cracks in the lines and the bpv is workin moving up and down.....
You run 87? That explains your power loss.
