Throttle position?

A buddy of mine is only seeing 87% of throttle neither of us have the software to look. but I was just woundering if this is the tune that gm put into the car?

Blown 4-banger Oct 1, 2006 09:15 PM

Mine said 88%, we set it to have 100 throttle when the pedal was at 85%, problem solved.

sethallen Oct 1, 2006 09:21 PM

did u see a difference in power when u did that?

sethallen Oct 1, 2006 09:22 PM

cuz i don't see higher than 90%...however i don't have access to HPT

Blown 4-banger Oct 1, 2006 09:24 PM

I don't know, we set it like that before we scanned it.

Badmunky Oct 1, 2006 09:26 PM

How did you find out hes seeing 87%?

Blown 4-banger Oct 1, 2006 09:28 PM

If you scan it, it has a graph that says "TPS (%)"

rollingboostedss Oct 1, 2006 10:10 PM

I put a scan gauge in the car and checked, I just thought it is odd that they would tune it that way.

buff_SS Oct 1, 2006 10:33 PM

That;s weird.......

patathSS Oct 1, 2006 10:36 PM

ETC % will show 100% if you change the scanner settings

sethallen Oct 1, 2006 10:47 PM

i can see my % through my interceptor

i'm new to hp tuners. Where is that at because I was wondering the same thing?

This was something I found on the Ecotec Js too. There seems to be some varience but the max you'll get on ANY Ecotec seems to be 87-91% with the pedal THROUGH the floor. We dyno'd 2 TBs, one with the stop ground down to open to 100% and one stock, and both made the same power. On closer examination we noticed the one ground out to 100% was actually going PAST full open and starting to close back the other way. Not much but it was starting.

Cars like the LSx and LTx and Northstars and all those see 100% though.

Oh and if you look at it with a Tech2...it'll read 100%. That's simply because the Tech2 is designed to read that 87-91% as WOT which equals 100%. We could see it jump from 88-100% on mine, if we watched carefully of course, before with the stock TB without opening the pedal anymore.
