Lack of traction and a good launch. It's not that they trap higher, it's that the ET's are lower than they would be with better launch and better traction.

Well with a 4.05 final gear ratio, .89 4th gear ratio, 215/45/18's 150mph would be 7090ish.

I'm not all into the 4th gear being an overdrive either, but it's not too bad.

Might have a solution for us coming up in the next few months. Going to "attempt" swapping in the 9-3's 3.53 final drive ratio.

I'm sorry but that's Bs.

Can cobalts even DO 150? And I mean without a rocket attached to the ass.

I have several friends with similar HP/weight cars and after 100MPH the speedo CRAWLS like you're a fat kid running up hill to get to a sandwich. .. I just can't see this...

Seriously though, my cobra could maybe get to 160? 165?

Unless i see a video of a cobalt doing 150 REAL Mph (not indicated by speedo) then i'm callin' bs...

You're right. Various mags reported that stock, our SS/SC's will only do in the low 140's.

Here's one of them ...

Car and Driver
The Quickest Cars of 2007: $20,000 to $25,000

http://www.caranddriver.com/features...ercharged.html

TEST RESULTS:
Zero to 60 mph: 6.1 sec
Zero to 100 mph: 15.3 sec
Zero to 130 mph: 32.3 sec
¼-mile: 14.6 sec @99 mph

Top speed (drag limited): 141 mph
Roadholding, 300-ft-dia skidpad: 0.86 g

and?

Still not gonna give it enough brute force to get to 150.

You would have to change the aerodynamics of the vehicle to achieve that, you can add all the stages you want, not gonna change. You can even do a stage 2 with purple gumdrops but you still won't hit 150.
