Turbo LSJ Issue

Having a really f'ing annoying issue and just wanna see if anyone else ran into something similar or has any ideas to kick around. all the parts are zzp less the charge piping and blow off valve. Issue is that the car starts and idles fine then all of a sudden it goes lean off the wideband and it starts studdering real fast like its got a fast ass cam in it lol. My battery kept dying so I replaced that hoping maybe that the fuel pump wasn't getting enough of a signal or something but replaced that and flashed a new tune and nothing so I'm at a loss just seein if anyone experienced similar.

Bad injector?

05Slowline 08-04-2011 10:04 PM

thing is, it idles perfect for like 30 seconds then gets thrown into limbo land lean, lol. i did have another intake mani on and ran fine except when i would drive and decel it would act like it was stuck in dfco i think it had a big intake leak off the mani or something so i put zzps lk9 on to trouble shoot and can't even drive the fker for 30 seconds =/

mine does the same thing. i got it retuned and it was better, then it started doing it again...i havent figured it out yet.

oh im a turbo swap ion redline..

383_Stroker 08-04-2011 11:33 PM

Does it go to crap when it goes into closed loop?

Sharkey 08-05-2011 12:03 AM

30 seconds in sounds like when its going into closed loop. if you have an interceptor or a way of monitoring the data stream, watch what the 02 sensor is doing. it might be stuck at high voltage (above 0.5v) so the computer is trying to lean it out. if the pcm leans it and it doesnt see a change in the 02 sensor it will pull more fuel, till the point the motor wont run.

maybe your upstream o2 sensor took a poop?

Did yours start to make the motor studder real bad when I happened too? When it does ot I can give it gas and it'll rev up but then it drops right back to lean again lol

Cool yeah ill have to check the voltage on my interceptor or hpt...brand new damn o2 sensor but I'm not ruling anything out at this point haha

I hope its just this lol

mmcgee123 08-05-2011 08:26 AM

Mine also used to do thus it was injector miss fire I got a retune and it seemed to help alot

Chevycobaltss3 08-05-2011 08:46 AM

Its still doing it.. Wtf...... Make a pid on hptuners.for narrowband and see.what.the.millivolts.are doing! Also inhptuners make u stay in open loop....... To see what happens. But keep an.eye on things.....somthing i didnt ask was what is your fuel pressure.

ebristol 08-05-2011 01:50 PM

Is it possible that your just that lean at that point in the MAF? Closed loop is good at pulling a lot of fuel when necessary but not as good as adding a lot of fuel.

Check your histogram for your MAF error. Most are set to ignore anything too lean or too rich. (IE > +20 or <-20%) Its possible you are outside that range so it might not be showing up in your log.

Chevycobaltss3 08-05-2011 02:02 PM

Slowline do u have a.histo that has ltft vs stft if not ill send u one it can explain why u r leanbut it needs data logged

mine doesnt do it all the time. i was thinking it was a vacuum leak. but i dont have anything that major that would cause it to do this. i can rev it and it will be fine and then come right back.. im going to get retuned this weekend hopefully. so maybe it will be fixed.

CarbonFiber112 08-06-2011 08:44 AM

yeah I have a 06 lsj turbo conversion and the idle is really messed up so I bought a new turbo and im waiting to install that then get it tuned. Also clean out your throttle body with cleaner that will help the idle according to a sticky on here... I need to clean mine too but idk where the throttlebody is on my ccar

05Slowline 08-06-2011 08:49 AM

^ lol wut

USMCFieldMP 08-06-2011 09:17 AM

Wow!

ANYWAY, I'm pretty sure Danew had this problem when we first converted his car. PM him or Blazin. They both will probably remember. I can't even remember what I did yesterday.

I wanna say it was PCM related though.

CarbonFiber112 08-06-2011 03:13 PM

read the third sticky about the idle issue

jonnymerk 08-06-2011 03:21 PM

He said his battery kept dying. Is there a possible grounding issue or something with the alt? I dunno what the zzp kit entails over there.

05Slowline 08-06-2011 04:05 PM

yeah i mean i had the log mani on ran fine other than the fact that it would not come down off of revs at all and 99% sure there was a leak in the im itself and just got the zzp one to troubleshoot instead of dick around and try to find it plus i like the zzp better, easier to get to the oil filter. anyways it never had this problem, then it sat for like maybe a month till i started it up and found this, even after the new battery it's a bit hesitant to start but does and does this crap, but after that it's hit or miss if it tries to start or not. got a bunch more troubleshooting to do when i get home tomorrow i guess haha thanks for all the suggestions

jonnymerk 08-06-2011 04:17 PM

lol well my car likes to stall sometimes when coming to a stop when the a/c is running

05Slowline 08-06-2011 04:19 PM

haha yea fk the ac i never use that shit

jonnymerk 08-06-2011 10:16 PM

It's hot and humid here in FL  Trust me if it wasn't so bad I'd never use it either.

Don't be a Vajayjay.

05Slowline 09-01-2011 08:47 PM

mk been busy as shit for awhile now and just now got around to diagnosing why it wouldn't start over the past week or two....got a new starter in and she starts up now, hesitates a tick or two but i guess that's to be expected after sitting as long as that bitch has....now still leaves me to my other problems. throwing 2 dtc for throttle body p2119 and p2135 so im kindve thinking that has something to do with it and maybe something with the harness or the tb zzp sent is bad.... p2119 says

"If the ETCS has a malfunction, the ECM shuts down the power for the throttle motor and the magnetic clutch,
and the throttle valve is fully closed by the return spring.
However, the opening angle of the throttle valve can be controlled by the accelerator pedal through the throttle cable"

which kindve is indicitive of what i'm experiencing, actually i think that's exactly whats happening so i may have answered my own question....cause it'll run for a while till it runs its tests i assume and then it just goes mad lean and starts chugging but if i blip the throttle it will raise the rpms......

anyways the engine light on the very right hand side with like a lightning bolt or some shit in it, does anyone know if that's limp mode mil light or w/e? cause that is coming on too..

Chevycobaltss3 09-02-2011 11:47 AM

it sounds to me that the wiring is pinched or somthing i had this issue with a 2.2 with a lsj t.b on it and the issue was the wiring was pincheched in the harness!!
