Vibrant Cat-Back

Anyone out there have the 3inch Vibrant cat-back for the SS/SC? How well does it perform? Thinking of getting this set up for my car.

i do and its amazing. i like the sound of it alot. better than custom and megan exhausts.

Do yourself a favor and dont go bigger than a 2.5" unless you are running some serious boost, i actually prefer the GMPP catback ot the Magnaflow. The GMPP gave 12whp on a stock SS/SC. 3" is to big plus i had a vibrant on my last car, spend a little extra and get a better cat back. Thats just my opinion, to each ther own

PM Area47 he has it with plenty of dyno numbers around too!

SSdan Sep 7, 2007 03:30 PM

Sounds very good IMO on a buddies car. I'll wait for him to chime in.

WSFrazier Sep 7, 2007 03:36 PM

It is rather loud. Sounds good at idle, meanas hell at WOT, but normal driving I think it sounds like ass.

M88ArRamadi Sep 7, 2007 03:39 PM

It's loud!!! Cruisin it's almost too loud to have a normal conversation. If I had to do it all over again....I'd still buy the complete Vibrant exhaust system again.

Herndon_High_SS Sep 7, 2007 04:02 PM

I'm really interested in seeing the dyno sheet for it. I would like to buy this exhaust system I'm just worried about loosing so much lower end tourqe to find out that it moves my revband out of the 7000 rev limit.

RuSSo-29 Sep 7, 2007 04:05 PM

How does this exhaust compair to the corsa exhaust?

CarySS/SC Sep 7, 2007 04:17 PM

the new random tech exhaust might be nice from crateengine depot its 2 3/4 inch and not that expensive either

Area47 Sep 7, 2007 04:18 PM

it's loud and retarded

dylan1221 Sep 7, 2007 04:23 PM

my Hahn Racecraft 3inch is loud at WOT and reving. idk how it compares to the Vibrannt loudnesss but its pretty loud

but i regret getting a 3inch SOO BADDD..

Can you explain why? I'm curious.

blue06 Sep 7, 2007 05:02 PM

thanks for all your suggestions and input on the cat back. Probably will go with the Magnaflow cat back

dylan1221 Sep 7, 2007 05:15 PM

u lose so much low end power the car isnt even fun to drive no more.. . . i regret it . thats all

Herndon_High_SS Sep 7, 2007 05:16 PM

Is the top end rediculous though?

dylan1221 Sep 7, 2007 05:18 PM

top end is fine . . . just idk. it suckss dudeee.. dont get a 3 inch unless u have like a turbo swap or a Twinscrew or serious moding close to 300 even 300 u should still be on 2.5 or 2.75

i didn't.

then again, i do my own tuning, so my lowend is just fine.

TheBaltSS/SC Sep 7, 2007 05:43 PM

I have the vibrant cat back I love the dam thing and if you are going to mod you are going to need the 3 inch and the low end thing you are mainly in the mid to high rpm range. Just look at my sig.

WSFrazier Sep 7, 2007 06:52 PM

Bah, the low end thing is way over-hyped. Tuning is your friend. Car drives fine.

exactly!

bring up the timing tables on the low end. it gets retarded!

runnin 25 degree's at 2500-3k rpms makes for a nice time in second. tires hate it though

dylan1221 Sep 8, 2007 09:05 AM

so where could i go to have my car tuned for my 3inch catback i got

TheBaltSS/SC Sep 9, 2007 01:10 AM

The best thing to do is find someone local with hp tuners.

QuikSilverSS Sep 10, 2007 08:21 AM

Why put a 3" exhaust on basically stock car that has the stock pulley, unless you are runningserious mods go no bigger than a 2.5" or you will lose low end, trust me most of the time you wont be at 5000+ rpm its better to have a car that loses a few peak hp but more than makes up for it in low-mid range power. bigger is not always better! (In terms of exhaust!...i can see this going off topic real fast! haha)
