Just wondering, how much money did you spend on this project so far?

We will need to meet half way and race after they are both done.
I look forward to hearing more about your Monte. I once had a 75 Monte with a 400 small block and that boat flew.
As for your Cobalt next week sounds good but which month??? My experience has been that the 2 don't always coincide.

Suffice it to say that the car has cost a lot more than most would spend because, I am building a modern day hot rod that will be allowed on a NHRA race track, with the big boys.
As for saying how much the cost actually it is, I choose not to say. I will either sound boastful or stupid, so lets just say I am the latter.

Thanks, and thanks for asking.
Christmas comes early this week as the GT45 and both my new crankshafts arrive.
The cylinder sleeves went in today and the engine starts being built the end of this coming week.
Major parts are arriving for the chassis and that should be moving full bore in 2 weeks time.
Finally some excitement happening in this project.
On top of that, we have a parts maker who wants to help out on the second engine.
On top of all of that the wife is almost home and we are going to do it before dinner.

Please checkout this other thread and give me suggestions for the finish of my project.

Okay so we have some good news and some not good news.
The not so good news is that the GT45 came in yesterday.
The good news is that the GT45 came in yesterday.
Mev (JBP) got an insta-woody when he saw the turbo. He then got a hernia when he had to carry it to the shop. The turbo weighs 55lbs.
The inlet hole is 6 inches big and it looks like will need some serious charging pipng for this monster. Piping that will be along the lines of this Turboed Ecotec and like the Phase5 Cobalts.

On top of that the GT25 we have is not a good match for the GT45 so we are going with my GT28 instead.
We have also decided to get some new connecting rods made up, ones that will with stand 1400-1500hp, so we are not sitting on the edge of failure.

This will only be a 2 seater. The tubs and cage take up the back seat area. There is also no trunk as the fuel cell will be located there.
As for the cooling the Supercooler will will do the work of a dry ice box but by simply flicking a switch.

There is that.

Then there is the fact that I really like Mev.
I have met him and enjoyed all the time we spent together on my two trips to Toronto.

Definitely man. Did a cam swap on the monte on sunday to prep for the nitrous install that was supposed to take place this weekend, unfortunately there was a death in the family today, my grandmother who I basically grew up with, so unless I can finish the whole turbo install and tuning tomorrow, I don't know when I"ll get to finish my balt, been gone 3 weeks now, sold the s/c so I'm at the point of no return on the balt. Oh well, as you know, best laid plans never work out the way you want.

I believe your right, so I made it even easier by adding the word dual, even though it is not a true dual setup.

There will be one pipe from the collector that will split into a wide Y and exit behind each door, just before the wheels. The sizes of the pipes will be determined later.
Also we are looking at using a rectangle or oval tip and have the pipe exit through the side skirt.

That should look real nice, prob a rectangle just slightly rounded corners, not so much oval.
