just let me know when you are looking to organize it. my parents live in michigan so i will need to know in advance so i can take leave and be up in that area to have a shorter drive. i wouldnt call my car a monster compaired to your expected 750rwhp. im only expecting to get somewhere between 390 to 420 whp on the bottle w/ turbo. i would try for more hp but i want to keep the car streetable.

I will have two different tunes for my car with one being a more street oriented tune of about 450rwhp
As for a 400hp-ish Cobalt, that is still a beast of a car, don't kid yourself

But you are doing a cross country tour right?
The car is in Toronto, just north of New York so it may still work out, depending on how fast you go east

Okay Doc now you have me laughing.
Name one person on this site who would be able to do "this project" professionally without having to pay someone else to do it.
I am very good at what I do but I don't delude myself into thinking I could have done everything this project entails.

It was a general statement....I think there are maybe, 3 on this whole site who can accomplish this or could even try.

You are not alone. Many have tried to do work far beyond their skill set and the outcome is usually bad. Then again we learn from our mistakes. I am quite handy and mechanically inclined. I can do all general repairs and I will spend a week learning how to do all needed maintenance and adjustments.
The highly specialized stuff I leave for the experts.

yeah, i dont touch engine internals anymore. lol. i just stick with wiring and electronics.

cant wait to get back and wire up the AEM f/ic. been messing aroud with the tuning software and the AEM f/ic unit. the usb port supplies power to the AEM f/ic and that is what allowed me to make some basic tunes for n/a apps for 42lb injectors and 60lb injectors. it even has the ability to control up to 6 extra fuel injectors if need to.

need to stop rattling on about that, its a whole nother topic lol

Sounds like you have something to do, to pass the quiet times. It also sounds like you are going to have a good time when you get home. I told my wife what your uncle is doing for you and she thought that was reaaly cool (and she's not even into cars)
I look forward to hearing and seeing more about your car as it progresses when your home.

Well I doubt that to build up to the level this car is. there is alot of details in just building the bottom end that no one has a clue unless they have studied it and have built oh say about 20 ecotecs.

let alone all the specialized stuff here. now to build a 400HP machine I think that is doable.

my biggest hurdle, - time, money, no lift, no how about finer details in the motor.

I have built up 350 chev's before right down to the crank. sent everything out for machining and then did the build from there. I would not do that with this car at all. just to much effort to pull the motor. heck I would replace the clutch if it had 10000K on it....LOL(kidding). head at least that can be pulled without pulling the motor everything below I would leave up to the professionals.

damn this thread is getting long lol.
Well as for mechanical stuff. I did design the turbo setup for my cobalt (1st for me) also going to be assembling the new motor soon myself (never done a 4 cylinder) done a few sbc's but never a DOHC motor. so it should be interesting. NEed to get a few more specialized tools to do the job, but hopefully tackling it soon. Just waiting to buy a new clutch and whatnot to install everything in one shot.
