What kind of fluid do our manual trannies use and how often should they be serviced?
Also, what is the capacity when all the fluid is drained?
Thanks! |

Are you talking about the SS/SC tranny here? It is different than the base Cobalt - although the fluid could still be the same. Are we talking Dextron-III ATF here? Also, how many quarts will I need to service it?

Im not quite sure how many quarts, check your manual

TECHNICALLY the lsj mu3 trans is supposed to use a special saturn fluid...as they have "required" since saturn was created I did some research on the old saturn boards and some ppl switched to mobil 1 synthetic atf and said its better. So sunday where there was no dealers open we added 1.5 qt of the mobil 1 atf to about .4 of the stock stuff to get my car back on the road...shifts like butter to be honest and it is hella cheaper 7/qt compared to 17/qt

Good, I was going to use the Redline D4ATF because it makes manual transmissions that use ATF shift so much smoother - especially in the cold. I'll keep everyone posted!
|
so what goes in the manual tranny?
|
Apparently it uses Dextron-III ATF - so I will be changing mine out to the Redline D4ATF and posting up a report for everyone after I do it :)

Gm requires their own syncromesh fluid in the F35 trans . I topped mine off with the Mobil 1 ATF that DJ used too . If your worried about warranty stuff , stick with the GM syncromesh because "IF" ya ever had a prob with the trans , theyd flag the synthetic ATF for sure .
