who would be interested in a semi- built shortblock?

I have it laying around but dont really know what to ask for it.

It has a
block that was honed, magnafluxed and decked by a machine shop, i wire brushed it and painted it with alumablast paint
crank was polished and knife edged
diamond 9.5:1 pistons with total seal rings installed
cryo treated lsj rods
new main and rod bearings
new main bolts
lsj oil pan

If anyone knows how much i should ask or is interested just post here or pm me.

more so just looking to see what you guys think its worth! I have built quite a few engines and if u need a refenrence ask foximus who bought my 2.2 i built, he now is a sponsored autocross car and beats the hell out of that engine on tracks and road courses and its still going strong!

Is this a direct swap into my Evo?

Bluelightning 11-18-2012 08:08 PM

How many miles on it?

kxrida2000 11-18-2012 08:11 PM

branddddd new

and frew this is a direct swap for srt4's come on now!

Bluelightning 11-18-2012 08:18 PM

If it only didn't have 10:1 pistons we would seriously talk. Damn

Frew 11-18-2012 08:18 PM

damnit! Neons have all the luck :)

Just stock. If I had access to E then I'd be all over it.

kxrida2000 11-18-2012 08:41 PM

just use that meth!

Bluelightning 11-18-2012 08:47 PM

Lol I dunno about that

kxrida2000 11-18-2012 08:53 PM

well actually ur in luck. thanks for mentioning stock compression cause u got me thinking. I went to my garage and checked and the part number is 101101 which is 9.5:1.

i bought them of tennpenn83 a while back

OttawaMark 11-18-2012 09:08 PM

Shit, even 10:1 on 94+meth is gonna be a big win just pully UP one size and save your SC bearings the trouble.

Bluelightning 11-18-2012 10:39 PM

I may pull the trigger on this. Awaiting pics :)

ItalianJoe1 11-18-2012 10:51 PM

Half a point on these motors isn't gonna matter much, just a bit more power.

OttawaMark 11-18-2012 11:19 PM

I've read its ~ 6% per point, fwiw.

Interesting... Care to share source? I'm curious.

hey, I'd take that, those twinkies are gonna be worth money in about a year or so, espically out in washington and colorado

Melon 11-19-2012 01:01 PM

some guy has them listed on ebay for like 120! lol. most r around 25.00 though. thats a lot for a box that 2 weeks ago was like 2-3

Sure enough I can't find my original source, but it looks like that number is a little high on second examination.

Compression Ratio HP Determination Program this site seems to be the internets source for compression vs power and it is far closer to 3% but shows no algebra.

Post 14# hasa good chart, a bit hard to understand at first that show the relationship isn't exactly linear and not 6%: Does a Compression/Horsepower Ratio Exist? - CamaroZ28.Com Message Board

And my favorite, boost compression ratio Boost Compression Ratio Calculator which for my #s gives me: You are running 10 PSI of boost at an altitude of 580 feet. Your motor's static compression is 8.8 :1. At this boost level and altitude your effective compression ratio is 14.67 :1, and without altitude correction your compression ratio would be 14.79 :1.

From 10:1 to 9.5:1 the same effective compression ratio could be run using 1.5lb less boost, which is preferable so long as predetonation can be contained imho.

armcclure 11-19-2012 02:14 PM

Mine came out to 19.67-1 lol

Well I tried to have this delt with not doing this but Billy suddenly now doesn't want to answer texts or PM's to talk about this. I bought this motor from kxrida. Transaction wise all went fairly smooth. When I received the motor there was some very light scoring at the very top of a couple cylinders I was never told about during purchasing. When I asked about it I was told his machine shop said it wouldn't cause a problem. So what do I do at that point? Pull the motor apart and resleeve it or hope for the best and let it ride? I put it in hoping for the best due to lack of funds to resleeve the motor. I put about 600 miles on the car. Broke it in doing proper heat cycles with break in oil. Changed out to synthetic and headed down to Bismarck,ND to get tuned by Infraredline. We bumped up my rev limiter to 7800. Taylor pulled timing out and we just started dialing in AFR. This is the first time I had really started pushing the motor. Couple pulls and AFR was spot on. Taylor says to do a 2nd and 3rd gear pull. So I start, at the top of second the car feels slow. I grab 3rd and the car just stays at 5k and wouldn't go any higher. I take my foot off and the car dies as fast as I could let off the gas... Was super slow turning over so I just left it. Tried it in the morning and the car started but I had to hold the gas to keep it running and you could hear a metal on metal noise. Did a compression test and I was 20-30 psi down in 2 cylinders. So I just stopped there. Texted billy (kxrida) about what happened but he was asking things I couldn't really answer at the time. Trailer the car home 500 miles and tore it down. Well the scoring marks his machinist said would be fine chewed up the top of #4 cylinder and a bottom end bearing packed it in which is what caused the motor to get tight. Poor assembly of this motor caused these problems. I have since tried to talk to Billy about this but now won't answer my texts or PM's. I was hoping he would be a stand up guy and talk to me about this but apparently not. So I'm going to share what happened.

I have since bought a stock lsj motor, threw my go fast parts on it and put it back in the car so I dont have even more downtime rebuild another motor that should have been for right the first time. Lesson learnt. Don't buy other people's built shit.
