ok i have stage 2 and boltons, ive been tryin to make a decision on the best buy for my car, i dotn wanna hear about stage 1's and pullies, i got stage 2 for a reason and now after driving 1 with a smaller pulley i want one too;)
so for reliablity, daily driving and over all best pulley for my car which one should i go with
and do i need a tensioner with my setup or anything else for that matter, thanks alot for eveyones help before this thread and a thank you in advance for anyone who helps me out now:)

Well I have heard of people using a 2.8 with the belt that comes with GM stage 2 and there isn't any slipage. 2.8 is nice, daily driving and all but that's as low as I would go. IMO. Remember every .10 you take off the pulley is about 10hp. :twothumbs

well i can tell you this when it comes down to quality no one beats Billet Flow from what I have seen of pullies.

LOL, gimme a call and I'll set you straight. I told you that you'd be hooked if you drove it:lol:

Mike, I'm glad you finally made a decision on which pulley to go with. I've ordered it for you so all you have to do is salivate in anticipation. BTW, my dealer confirmed I would get Stage 1 within 7 days - I don't know whether to call BS on this or not but we'll wait and see. CED isn't coming through for me and either are the a**holes at Don Howson.

i think im gonna do the 2.85 sean, angelo offered to revise his order and get one for me since the site isnt friendly to me right now lol, so ill give this a try, damn your car!!! lol
so when i get this pulley im comin to yer place with a 6 or 12 of whatever brand of yer choosing;)

distillion 05-26-2006 03:31 PM

ive read some wear and tear issues about the billet flow as well ang, i dunno seans seemed tight as hell, maybe just the way someone installed it, who knows...
so sean am i safe with this setup??? its only a butt hair smaller than yers.

i have never heard any issues with Billlet Flows. I have had mine on for almost a year and it looks brand new..... plus it matches the color of my car sooooo....

distillion 05-26-2006 03:37 PM

ya i guess wierd stuff happens sometimes lol.
both pullies are very appealing.

I think the issues are with the smaller Billetflow pulleys. The smaller the pulley the thinner the Billetflow gets to accomodate the SC snout. Most snouts have to be machined if a pulley smaller than 2.8" is installed but Billetflow makes a 2.7" that will fit without machining, but the problem is it's paper thin. So your 3.15" shouldn't be a problem. Both the ZZP and Billetflow are well made, just that the ZZP was designed for the M62 blower specifically. That's what got my vote - not to mention price!! :twothumbs

price is good:)

thanks for the the info guys!

hey dude if you can be patient i think GM will be putting out its own smaller pulleys.

why else would stage 2 come with a hub?
itll prolly take 3 months for the pulley to come out but.....

anybody hear anything about this is this all in my head?

the reason i ask is if you get a billetflow pulley you are going to have to get a new hub right?
the 4 blue bolt apttern is unique to GM.

TXRLU 05-26-2006 04:26 PM

My billetflows are showing considerable wear on the screws after 3 months (material from pulley is more than half-way eaten through the pulley). I've contacted Billetflow about a replacement (2 weeks ago). I will try contacting them one more time and let you know how their customer service goes with their "lifetime guarantee".

AlphaJaguar5 05-26-2006 06:14 PM

What screws are you talking about? The allen bolts on the end?

06black 05-26-2006 06:19 PM

I'll always recomend BilletFlow.

no one will EVER beat them in quality.

I was useing there 2.9 and now i'm useing there 2.7.

after 4-5months of use on the 2.9 it looks dam neer like new quality.

TXRLU---....

I have no idea what the shit you did to casue such a thing if your talkin about the allen head screw wearing in to the pully ring. sounds like a bad install in my book.

i've never seen such a thing happen with one of BF's pullys even on 600hp cobras and all.

ninja44 05-26-2006 06:53 PM

Any smaller pulley is a better pulley, let me know when you get it and we'll put that bitch in:twothumbs

yeah, I tightened em just hand tight, haven't heard anything from them regarding any warranty. I think I'll go with ZZP next time.

ninja44 05-31-2006 08:26 PM

I switch between the 2.9 and 2.7 on a regular basis using grade 8 steel button head allen bolts and believe me when I say I crank those suckers tight! Grade 8 steel bolts are hard enough to strip the hub and the pulleys show no indentations you speak of so I'm not sure what you are tightening the bolts with or how tight.

Ninja I like your set up.. Should I get stage 1 w/ a smaller pulley or just go w/ stage 2?

Skip Stage 2 just go with Stage 1 w an aftermarket pulley of your choice or go with the HP tuners Intense Stage kits. It's totally up to you how far you want to go. I wanted a reliable, everyday, all year round street car so I'm pretty happy with this setup so far.

l Sh1ft l 05-31-2006 10:41 PM

I want to keep the warranty so I'll go w/ 1 of the stage kits. I'd like to get to mid 13's in 1/4 mile times.. Stage 1 doesn't come w/ the reflash correct..? Is the reflash needed? Sorry for potentially stupid questions but I don't really feel like searching if I can get upfront answers from u.. Thanks!

Cynic/Torque Forward 05-31-2006 10:59 PM

Stage 1 comes with bigger injectors and a reflash. The reflash is the same as the stage 2 one. So all you need is stage 1 and the aftermarket pulley of your choice.

Btw, I've used both south florida pulley headquarters and billetflow and I will say that billetflow has by far the better setup. If you look at the bolt holes on the SFPH hub it's SO close to the edge of the hub it's ridiculous. I didn't like this aspect and went and bought a billetflow pulley. Much better design. I have the 2.9 and the 2.7 and I didn't really notice a difference in the thickness of materials at all.

TXRLU 07-08-2006 12:24 PM

Well, I'm guessing its not a good idea to email billet flow for warranty claims. I did call them yesterday and am happy to report that they are going to send me a complete set of pullies for a "core charge". Once I mail the pullies back to them, they will refund me the charge on my card. So far so good. I will report back in a few weeks once the return is final.

ZZP has my vote. Look for my new Front page Full review /How to install on the ZZP 3 inch modular pulley Coming this Tuesday the 11th of July. ZZP makes a 2.6 inch Pulley that doesnt require machining of the supercharger snout. ZZP pulley's where specifically designed for the Eaton M62!!:twothumbs
