*NEW MOD TODAY* Custom 2.5" Catback- PICS! 56k beware

Hi folks,

I went to a local exaust shop today. I walked in looking for catback options. I walked out $387 poorer (after my 10% student discount) with a new custom 2.5" catback exaust :D I have a sound clip from my cell phone but, I can't get it to play on my computer. it ends in .qcp. It has a mellow tone. Any help? Below are pics. FYI the stock exhaust my 2.2L was 1.64" ID and 1.75" OD. The Custom is 2.39" ID and 2.50" OD. The stock tip is for sale btw. Or i'll sell the entire stock exhaust if you come pic it up. CHEAP. Here come the pics:

EDIT:I went back to the shop and asked about the muffler. The shop told me they used a Flowmaster 40 Series. Part # 42541. I told them to prove it. So they got out a mirror and a flashlight and showed me the top or the muffler. It said flowmaster along the top. I bet I still get raped on the price though.

FASTL61 05-26-2009 06:50 PM

looks good but my custom exhaust only cost me $160.Did they supply the muffler? If so then sounds about right.I already had a muffler and told them to use it instead of one of there $200 dollar magnaflows lol

the_rainmaker 05-26-2009 06:51 PM

sweet action man congrats on the buy.

lol for some reason when I saw new mod in the title I was like

"oh shit, we got a new moderator, whos it gonna be?!?!?!?!"

jlong3382 05-26-2009 06:54 PM

Yes they supplied the muffer...........it was a $175 muffler. Let me check the specs quick.

cheesetits 05-26-2009 06:56 PM

glen229 05-26-2009 06:57 PM

The reciept says Muffler #42541................it sounds great. Nice and "throaty." No "fart can" noise at all :twothumbs

no resonator $165 for pipeing/labor, $175 for muffler, $70 for tip. I prolly got raped on the muffler.

Jpitts210 05-26-2009 08:22 PM

you got raped on all three, damn man. most shops around here charge about 90 bucks for piping and labor, and then if you just buy your own muff(80ish for most good ones) and tip(40-50) then you could of saved an ass ton.

glen229 05-26-2009 08:24 PM

i see something wrong in the last pic......

Sounds good too............I just wish I could get the sound bite to work.

Blk08coupe 05-27-2009 01:17 AM

Looks alright but they raped you big time on the cost. It should not have cost any more than $175 for the whole thing. The muffler they used is a Flowmaster knockoff. I hate shops like that. The muffler cost them all of $20. I know because I used to run an exhaust fab shop. They used your old flange and just put the press bent piping? Wish you lived here where I do, I woulda hooked you up nice!!

bikeboyben14 05-27-2009 01:28 AM

ive got a brand new dynomax race bullet muffler i coulda sold you for 40 its 2.5 inch as well, but that tip they put on there looks alot like your stock one

knoxbox 05-27-2009 03:59 AM

i paid 178 for my full catback and it sounds badass... *shrugs* custom isn't always cheaper.

I wanted a tip that looked like the old one. It does from outside of the car, but it's about a foot long......it run all the way from the muffler to the end.

As for the price, I went to 3 different shops and they were the cheapest.

I don't know the terminology......explain please?

Whitty 05-27-2009 05:38 PM

press bent pipes u lose some ID around the bends because the machine "presses" in on the pipe to make the bend, mendrel is what u want u lose no ID in the corners.

jlong3382 05-27-2009 06:18 PM

thanks
