So I've got two 2006 SS cars, one an NA the other an SC both with their own unique problems. However, I didn't say I also have a well running 2.2 LS with the L61 2.2 litre 2005 engine etc. All stock. So yeah I've got 3 cars here each with their own strengths.

I've noticed there exists a good parts thread on this board, for supercharging the 2.2 litre L61 using parts from the LSJ without having to buy new parts. Since my LS L61 is running fine, but has 290,000 miles, it would need a refreshing rebuild in order to make it run (i.e., cheap and no need for pistons cranks or rods ...likely). Thing is, it's running great. And there seem to be a good many threads that show the 2.2 litre being rebuilt with forced SC air induction.

Is this an avenue that might be worth taking this summer? The body is in good shape, no holes in the floor, engine starts up fine. Would this be a better candidate for a rebuild? I've looked over the 2.4 LE5 rebuild and it seems quite complex - have to kind of mangle parts in order to make it work.

What's the best CHEAP way to make one car? Would it be wise to rebuild and put together a 2.2 supercharged car? I have all summer to do it, hayes, and the GM tech manuals, plus I have all the information on this pretty knowledgeable place. What do you think?

I posted a thread about the rust on my SS SC, and the fact that my SS NA has a great body but an engine blown and I haven't scoped inside the short block or cracked it open to see what's inside - it's an unknown.

I'm asking a lot of questions lately but I really want to build a lasting car that has some umph. I'm willing to learn but not willing to shell out a lot of money on new parts - would like to take what I've got and make one car.

Cheapest route would be part out both cars and buy a running and driving sc or tc.

Rebuilds are not cost effective is cheaper to swap in a junkyard motor.

The problem with SC'ing the 2005 is there does not exist anyone to tune it. Trifecta was the only option and i don't believe they tune that ECM anymore.

Yes thanks I took this advice and have put down credit card on an 06 Ion 2.4L engine with head for my SS - I've been told by the yard these will swap ok - is that right? He's checking the engine today and tomorrow.

I'll sell the '05 LS/LT
