2.2 Turbo cooling trouble
So when I installed my turbo I used one of the to heater core lines. And know when I turn on the heater the engin temp rapidly rises and it starts blowing cold air. I shut it off when it gets close to 220 and it shoots up to 240 and then returns to normal. Any ideas??? Pictures below. In the first pic the tee circuled in red is the coolent going to the turbo from the heater core line. The second pic is coolant coming from the turbo into the surg tank line.

edit...pics werent labeled well...more examination needs to be done lol, label things!
could it be possible you have the two lines crossed? |
hhmmm werid. thats why im not gonna splice off anything.
unless of course you figure it out and its a good way to do it lol. |
thats how it has to be done lol, we did this on a buddies car about a year and a half ago lol, dont rem what we did unfort and he has moved (2.4redss)
it is the only way though, and im sure there is a logical explanation, such as swapped in and out, not enough coolant...somehting question...front mount or direct to the tb/ intake mani???? |

I'm going to switch the tee to the other heater core line. My only concern is the turbo might not get sufficent cooling though so I'll have to cheak the flow. Will update with info. |

The shooting from 220 to 240 after you shut it off is normal since you are effectively killing the only way for the engine and turbo to cool itself. Normally your rad fan doesn't even turn on till around 220 I believe. The blowing cool air after turning on the heater however baffles me. What is the tuning solution for your ECU?

you mean coolent in and out from the turbo? Double cheaked.

are you tapping in before or after the coolant goes through the engine (head and block)???

I beleave after the block, line going to the cabin. I'll have to cheak the direction of flow.

Sounds like you have air trapped in your cooling system.
