2.2L 10:1 boost suggestions

Hi, so I have a 2005 L61 and I want to aftermarket supercharge it. But first I need to mod the internals. I have already looked into required mods by using the 2.0 Lsj for refrence. Planning on getting everything but the crank and valves. However I am wondering if I need to drop compression, was hoping to make 6-12psi. Would I need to get dished pistons? And do I need a different headgasket?

2005 2.2 have no tuning support so you can’t supercharge or turbo it. The only option is a complete standalone system. And you couldn’t use lsj internals

I understand there is no tuning support so I was planning on doing it myself. Are you saying the ecm cant be tuned? And I wasnt using lsj internals, I only used the lsj to see what was needed to boost. Am still planning on getting l61 forged parts.

There is no available software to tune that specific ECU, it was used for a short period of time in a non-performance model. The ECU is different than the SS model ECUs.

Unless you are good with cracking ECUs with open source software going standalone is your only option. Either option is a significant amount of work, it likely would be easier to get a 2007 model year with the 2.2L and supercharge that car.

What do you mean by going standalone?

Like I stated earlier. A stand-alone is the only option. It’s not cheap. The cheapest best solution is to get one that can be tuned and go from there. There’s a lot of threads on this page that has all the info.

Thanks for the advise, after a little looking around I might be on to a lead. Swapping in some 07+ l61 parts and swapping the ecu and harness may get me where I want. Still research to do though.

not that simple. Can’t just put an 07+ computer and harness in an 06 car. You would have to swap every single thing from the 07 over. Engine, bcm, pcm, engine harness, engine, interior harness. It’s not worth it.

Agreed, it is easier to just buy an 07 and build that car than trying to swap everything over.
