I don't know. I still remain very skeptic. Even the Chevrolet website says its 3200 sedan, 3000 coupe. Even when I worked at Uhaul our hookup book for trailers confirmed those weights. Wierd.

don't be skeptical... think about it--the Coblat is a compact car. All cars in its class have a general range of specs that are pretty close. Dimesnions are within inches. So then how does the Cobalt weigh hundreds of pounds heavier? HOw could it? The Mazda 3 was called a real porker at the scales when it came out.

Don't beleive the Chevrolet website---its full of crap. "Not yet Publsihed" for almost all 2.4L Ecotec specs. Hmm...they have been published on the GM Canada website for 8 months!

Someone over at the US website is lazy, stupid or both

Dont confuse curb weights--with GVWR. Or generic weights.

I did weigh my car--with some luggage and about 1/2 tank it weighs 2840lbs.
Did U-haul go weigh every car ever made? No. They used some one eles bad info and the myth grows.

Here is a pic. Multiply by 2.2 to get the weight in pounds. 2882 actually but like I said thats with 1/2 tank gas and luggage. I am going to be drving by the scales on monday...I will reweigh it---this time no luggage!

edit: back to the 145hp 2.2. you ask why it's ONLY 145. i'd ask why you were so lucky to get that much. look at a lot of cars in the price range and look at the USEABLE power. most of them are making slightly more power at either way higher RPMs or with a lot less torque. or, they're a lot more money. for 13k ish discounted price, 145 is a rocket ship.

Sorry i saw the 17hp to 1 lbs and you got that backwards bud. Its 17lbs to 1 hp. The SS is like 14lbs to 1 hp

Rechecked weights today at the scale. I had 5/8 of a tank and no luggage this time.

2838lbs--make that 1/4 or less and it would be lower.

So those weighing stations are not monitored? You can just pull in there and use it as long as a cop doesn't see you?

In Alberta we have the Highway truck scales with a shack and a bigger buliding for inspections (even those are not open 24 hrs a day--if they are closed I have gone there)and we have a another version---which is just a scale.
