2009 L61
Rumor on the Street that the L61 is getting a makeover for 2009 Models....featuring all the same things as 07/08 Models with a new feature....VVT for a max power of 155hp 150ft/lb tq
so with that it's the LAP Engine....it's a mixture of the L61 and LE5...go figure lol....so that may give those 07/08 owners something to ponder...their engine with a LE5 Head and some tuning and you may have something there....just thought i'd pass that along lol |
wow even with vvt still only at 155...LAME!!!!!A K20 is making right around 200hp and its a 2 liter.GM needs to step up with N/A IMO
|
they did...back in the day...2.3 HO made 190hp...back in the 90s
|
What the hell. There dropping the ball with the L61.
|
should have bought a supercharged 2.0 then if u wanna complain about base model performance
|
well...the engine is for gas mileage and emissions stuff...not performance...if you want performance go with the LSJ or LNF Engines....hence why they are around lol....
|
its called MPG. thats what consumers want
|
Source??? cause the street aint one
|
i think the lsj are even underpowered for stock..LNF's are great.I bought a base model for lightweight and i want to boost my own vehicle and build the engine myself.I dont like vehicles that much that are factory turbo/supercharged...Dont get me wrong i would buy one if it was a good deal only....just my opinion..

iirc isnt the k20 super high compression, like 11 or 12:1, and rev a lot higher too? whats the L61, 9 or 9.5:1, with a redline of what like 6k? |
L61 10:1 comp with rev limit at 6500
|
It won't be called the L61 and this is hella old news.
LAP or LAF or something... And if you bitch about the base model performance you are retarded...compared to a base civic motor the base destroys it in terms of HP and mileage. |
You Guys Are Retarded, The L61 Is The Base Econo Box Motor If You Want Power Gm Has A Lot Of Roads For You But Dont Bitch Because They Improved There Standard Motor And Didnt Make It A Ricers Wet Dream

So it only gaining 5hp is decent. Also it is getting the GenII block which means it cools better thanks to better cooling jackets. Means more boost in the end...and gets all the dinosaurs out of the ecotec closet |
LE5 Motor is gone in all cobalt models for the 2009 Model Year. they are all going to the LAP Engine with the exception of the LNF in the SS Coupe and Sedan.
so the LS/LT will have the LAP Engine SS will have LNF the LE5 will be in some GM Vehicles...but not the Cobalts.... enjoy |
I could have sworn I saw that they are getting rid of the sport package and renaming it the performance package and it is basically a Cobalt Sport.

LS, LT : LAP Engine 2LT : LE5 or LAP, LE5 with Sport Appearance Package SS : LNF Engine But they scraped that idea so it's just LS, LT, SS with different options and 2 motors eh....what can ya do though lol |
No more LE5 balts!
 FTL! |
info is on wikipedia also. now that isnt considered a creditable source but its there
