anybody have...

the Pulstar pulse plugs....gonna buy em for my car tomorrow....just thought i'd hear some input.

06_ion2 05-29-2009 12:01 AM

no just use stock replacements.

rnjmur 05-29-2009 12:13 AM

The idea behind the plugs is a good idea, however they don't do a damn thing. Infact, they can cause problems.

avenger09123 05-29-2009 11:23 AM

They look pretty interesting, I don't know how much it'll help us though, considering that prius got only 5mpg more and they probably had it running as a generator and not in direct drive mode to get that kind of gas mileage to start with.

For us, I don't know man the bigger spark might ignite the gas better and faster everytime, but if thats what it says on their website, be sure you send them the bill for the new motor if they do mess it up haha...

ShortStack 05-29-2009 11:25 AM

no no no no no.

DO NOT BUY THESE...

They may work for other applications, but the ecotechs do NOT like these .. at all...

The tips break off and some times parts of the insulator.. not good.

avenger09123 05-29-2009 11:47 AM

Hey shortstack...do all cobalts not like these? or is it only the distributor based cobalts? or the COP cobalts?

I have the pulstar pulse plugs and have ran on em over 40k miles...they work great...the thing to remember is...DO NOT use a socket with a rubber insert...use one w/o a rubber insert...those inserts can crack or splinter the plugs....my balt has ran great on em for a long time now..I can get over 50mpg on some stretches...

let me know if you have any ?s

with all my mods i average 40mpg when doing a run form my place, through town and to the freeway and back...
which means i get over that on the freeway...with autolight stock replacements...

dont do it...dont do it...dont do it

and, if the RUBBER in the socket can harm the plugs then what about the spark boot??? what about the engine shaking?? Not good if you ask me

no offense but isnt there a thread where you get flamed to hell over this dumb bullshit? You should post that to this guy so he is more educated and doesnt follow mass media...

Do_WorkSS 06-01-2009 01:45 AM

well they're in. so far they've been running great. no stalling, sputtering, anything of the nature. i'm gonna be goin on a 300 mile trip in a couple days...im anxious to see what kind of gas mileage i get.

honestly man its not a smart move running other plugs than stock. your no way going to gain mpg with just spark plugs unless they really need to be changed. honestly dont ask if you get misfire and wonder why you have a cel half way through the trip. were just looking out for you those spark plugs arnt meant for our ignition system period.

FASTL61 06-01-2009 02:08 AM

I believe it was Modified Magazine that did dyno testing on these and gained something like 15WHP on a bone stock 350Z.Now they did not do any MPG testing so I dont know how long they last but one thing I do know is there expensive as F**k.$25 a plug

WRONG...several cobalt owners complained a long time ago regarding the Bosch +4s not being of good quality and killing their car over and over, well it turns out the difference between those of us and the 05/06's complaining was we had Coil on Plug and they had ignition coils (newer version of the oldschool distributor coils) that kept being blown out...

Don't state facts someone can easily research and find pictures of...especially if its on gmpartsdirect.com with illustrations...

a coil on plug and coil pack are 100% different then a distributor...stop talking

1badBlueberrySC 06-01-2009 02:21 PM

For godsake do NOT use those plugs. They are a waste of money for this car... a nice irridium or platinum plug will perform just as good as those!

what, that only the certain years have complained???? doesnt matter, 2.4s have tried these and never were coilpacks. only cars that ran coil packs were the 05=06 ls balts....and everyone i have known has had problems with these including me, coil on plug or coilpack

A Distributor is run off the camshaft and has a cap, rotor button, wires, and a shaft. Please show me a picture of a cobalt with those stock. Hell, show me how to advance/retard timing on it. A Ingition Coil Pack like my 06 has is not a distributor, it has no moving parts and is not attatched to the cam in any way.
