Buying parts from a dealership?

Ive been thinkin about the stuff I wanna do to the Balt, and I was wondering if we can buy parts from the dealership. Or can we buy parts from GM or Chevy..

I know I want the SS body kit. Minus the wing, (getting new trunk, hate wings). Also I wanted to see if they could supercharge it. I have an 07, auto.

Possible?

You can definitely get the SS kit from the dealer or GM. Supercharging it? Not likely seeing as how GM wants you to buy the SS S/C rather than build one for you. Not only that, but the kit that they offer isn't compatible with our cars.

Also try the vendor listings, rksport, cobalt addiction etc. has some nice body kits also.

It would probably be cheaper to buy an aftermarket or used kit though, you might want to check into though.

Buying parts from a dealership and buying them from GM or Chevy is the same thing.

For your little stuff, just go to your local GMgoodwrench counter.

For your bigger stuff, try our vendor, Crate Engine Depot.

actually my local chevy dealer said there was a supercharger kit for my car(just like the ss/sc's supercharger) they said it worked for my car, but i don't believe they knew what they were talking about, or they did, but didn't know mine was an auto or an 07 maybe..theres no way they have tuning i dont think lol

(But they did say there was a local guy named TANG at an import tuner shop at a local mall that had put superchargers on cobalts like mine, although i've never seen them..)

"Showbalt" strapped a super charger to his 2.2, it worked until he blew something up. I admire him for doing it, but it's not feasible for the average car owner.

I also had a debate with a guy at a rather large Chevy dealer, the parts manager, about weather the Cobalt SS Coupe is Supercharged or Turbocharged...ya, no lie. He didn't seem to know the difference either.

Don't always trust your dealer, most of the guys who work there do their jobs straight from the manual, ask them what VVT stands for and they'll probably look at you like you have lobsters coming from your ears.

That is an often confused kit. There is in fact a supercharger kit for the L61 Ecotecs that are in the J-body cars. While the Cobalts have the same engine, the kit will not work on our Delta platform cars.
