Cav -> Cobalt

Just a quick question, will the same stuff that fit the cav engine (like intake,header) fit the cobalt 2.2? Or do we have to wait for companys to make new parts?

Most will fit on there the same. Just things like CAI won't work as things like fuse boxes, battery, washer fluid etc won't be in the same place.

But throttle bodies, headers, etc should be fine.

really only throttle body, headers wont be the same, as you have to look where the firewall is and how much room you have to work with, by the looks in the cobalt theres not nearly as much clearance as there is with a cavalier. so headers will not work imo. if headers worked then there would allready be more aftermarket headers out for the redline.

You are very right, I never really thought about that. And since you mention it, I remember looking a the cut-out pic of a Cobalt and noticing that the header seems to hook to the left out from under the car.

well the only headers out currently that MIGHT work for the cobalt is either the Gude performance header for the ION, or the pacesetter header for the ecotec cavs.

The Gude header should work because the ION and the cobalt have the same clearances between each car (since they are on the same platform).

The Pacesetter header for the ecotec cavs and sunfires fit the ION currently, due to the design of them, and the way they bend downwards. They are less bulky due to being of a 4-1 design as opposed to the other ones like the weapon-R header which is a 4-2-1 design. Because of the pacesetter 4-1 design, it allows for tighter clearances. The only thing is you have to relocate the ION's cat further down the exhaust rather than being so close to the manifold as it is originally.

There will be a huge market for the cobalt and consequently, the ION as well. Give things time, you'll see.
