Great info. Thanks.

Sticky?

yellow_cobalt 05-07-2007 01:15 PM

wouldnt it be cars with alloy wheels are swappable? i have a 07 ls, with steel wheels, and have the 4x100 so ls trim and up is not correct to say. the 1lt also comes standard with the 4-lug

Thanks I'll fix it.

I'll sticky ya. But you have to keep it current.

Here's stuff:

Change your title to something describing the WHOLE car and not just the engine. For instance SS parts the fit Base / LS / LT models.

ALL the suspensions are completely interchangeable. The FE1, 3, and 5. And all of their components, including but not limited to:
Wheel hubs
Strut tower mounts
Rear axle

The steering knuckles are no different between the models.

Engine stuff:
Intake manifold will physically fit the engine, but the L61 throttle body wont fit the manifold.
Cams are incorrect. The LSJ cams have a position sensor on the exhaust cam that extends out of the head. However, the grind of the LSJ cams and L61 cams prior to 2007 were exactly the same with different timing. GMPP adjustable timing gears on L61 cams can do anything LSJ cam can.
There is obviously much more engine stuff, and that would be a thread all it's own. I think you should stick to bolt on stuff.

Exterior stuff:
Use the correct names. They are called Facias, not bumpers. Bumpers are on trucks. Facias are molded plastic covers over impact reinforcements, which is what most cars have.
Also, it's called a Deck Lid. The trunk is the empty space under it.

So i have a 06 ss/sc. my buddy has a 07 ls coupe. i got a aftermarket exhaust, so will my stock ss/sc exhaust fit on his 07 ls??? or would there be any point in doing that?? would you think the sound or power would change any??

Halfcent 05-10-2007 12:39 AM

All exhausts are completely interchangeable. And the SS exhaust is slightly larger then the base ones, so there would be some gain.

TPRMcfly 05-16-2007 02:19 PM

question, so can i get the 5 lug wheel hub for my 06 ls? and get ss/sc rims?

YellowLT 05-16-2007 04:48 PM

Yes you would need to swap all the wheel hubs and convert the rear brakes to disc from drums

Delta2.2 05-23-2007 01:35 PM

what are expected HP gains from a ss/sc header and downpipe on a 2.2 from 06?

Halfcent 05-23-2007 09:18 PM

Not enough to really notice a power difference, just a few more HP. You would probably notice a sound difference however.

Black07LS 06-19-2007 03:27 PM

Will an 05 SS/SC shifter assembly work in a 07 LS?

YellowLT 06-19-2007 05:20 PM

Not too sure, but i believe No because of the Reverse Lockout. I know that the B&M shifter for the 2.0S/c doesn't work on the 2.2 or 2.4. I'll check into it but you better off going to After Market anyway.

montecarloman 06-19-2007 05:20 PM

As I recall the shifter design is different. The SS/SC has a lift lock to shift it into reverse, all others dont. it might physically fit but it wont be right by the way YellowLT got a correction for ya

The FE5 front swaybar uses 2 bolts per mount to secure the swaybar to the sub frame. The FE1 and FE3 bars use a slot in the rear on the mount and a single bolt per mount in the front. The good news is the FE5 mounts slide into the original slots and the only modification you need to make is to cut about 3/8 of an inch off the bottom of the bushing to get it to fit.

elecblue06 06-19-2007 05:32 PM

you should be able to use the shifter.. you just have to remove the thing for reverse lockout (usually just a bar or something of that nature)... multiple people have used shifters for the RL and just removed the reverse lockout...some people have used shifters without reverse LO they just say it is weird...

In '07 they switched the DRLs from the Turnlamps to the regular headlights. Correct they do not have orange lenses, only orange bulbs.

What would be required to change this over to say an '06? as in switch it from the turnlamps to the headlights? Is it just a stand alone box, wiring change, or is that in the ECU?

You could either buy 2007 SS/SC headlight housings and just do a straight up swap, or do what I plan on doing and "bake" your headlights pull them apart, take out the orange lens and replace the clear bulb with an amber or stealth bulb.
