Cold Air Intake

I am thinking of buying a CAI. I have noticed that a lot of people are using thin injen. i was thinking about buying an AEM. what are the pros and cons of the different CAI.

shiftingloco310 03-13-2006 11:08 PM

well it depends on what car you have...for the ss/sc all CAI will throw a CEL...Injen is nice though becuase of its MR technology, plus its a full Cai Replacing the whole stock airbox and tubing. the aem looks nice to but it only replaces the airbox and reuses the stock piping.

That's why it's so cheap.....But now that I look at it, for what you get, it's not that cheap at all....It's kind of a rip off. Injen seems to be the best bet.

since when has AEM only replaced the airbox and filter? Have pics? Any AEM intake I have seem is a complete intake replacement, including the one for the 2.2 Ion.

AEM vs Injen on a 2.2L

AEM 4.4HP in a Cobalt in a Cavalier the Cavy kit got like 7.? HP
Injen 8.4HP and 7.8 ft/lbs in a Cobalt

Thus I chose the Injen.

Since they released the "intake" (read: filter) for the 2.0 Ecotec...

oh, you're talking about the 2.0 intake...in the 2.2 forum. :)

I understand now...

celicacobalt 03-14-2006 05:48 PM

injen is the best fit and finish stick with it

TurboTechRacing 03-14-2006 06:29 PM

Also, the CAI on the 2.2 and 2.4L can be converted to a short ram intake for winter use, or if you dont want to have the full intake on.

We have a ton in stock, email us if you have any questions about this intake.

biniecki 03-14-2006 07:53 PM

I noticed the injen looks like it has some sort of display on it. Is there some sort of display or am i just looking at the pics wrong. If there is some sort of display on it what does it display?

TurboTechRacing 03-14-2006 08:07 PM

You might be looking at the mount where the mass air flow sensor goes (fitment for the stock air sensor)?

biniecki 03-14-2006 08:35 PM

yea thats prolly what it was i think i was actually wondering that when i first saw it but it slipped my mind when i posted my previous post. Thanks for clearing that up

Looks very nice, tell us how you like it!

IonNinja 03-15-2006 02:25 AM

well, its loud...well louder than my car already was with the exhaust

there was some gain but not that kick in the butt gain I was expecting...but, a mod is a mod ;)

CobaltLT 03-15-2006 02:41 AM

Yeah i'm kinda dissapointed at the minimal gains of intake and exhaust and such, but every little bit helps I guess!

Info for the 2.0L - Just put on a K&N cone filter and you will get the same HP gains as a CAI. Stock pipe is the same as aftermarket CAI. Just take off the bottom air box cover and leave it off. Drill a hole in top air box cover to be able to tighten screw. if you want to go back to stock then all you need is a grommet to fill in the hole you drilled.

there - saved you $150 us. mail me $25 Cdn for saving you a bundle. later

I sure hope so, I admit I was expecting more from each mod. Well hopefully the header I get will add up to both intake + exhaust mods combined. Or maybe there is more of an overall gain across the entire powerband. No big kick in the pants mods though...
