cooling mods?
i know its kind of unnececary, but is there any cooling mods i can install on my 2.2 that will help bring my temps down?
my reasoning is that in bumper to bumper traffic my dic coolant temp creeps up to 215*F and takes forever to fall when traffic starts flowing again. i notice my performance decreases significantly after heatsoaking for a while in traffic (duh). is there anything i can do to keep temps down when im sitting (other than a tune to adjust when the fan kicks in) or bring them down easier when i get going again? i just dont know the difference of what is installed to keep the heat down from the supercharger or just a n/a engine, or if there is a difference. thanks. and dont flame. if you think its not worth it, post kindly, but it will be worth it to me. the high temps piss me off |

The heater works best, because it cycles the hot coolant through your system and spreads the wealth, so to speak, bringing the temp down a little faster.
That, with the manual fan switch is what I used to do at the dragstrip, waiting in line to run, when I had my SRT-4. Helped that we had 160 degree t-stats as well! A lower t-stat would be the easiest solution, without you having to do any extra work, oher than installing it...so as long as any are available, and it doesn't keep the temps too low. This would make the car run in its warm-up mode deal thing (whatever the proper name for that is) until the car was warm. |
After I removed my enging cover, mine runs about 1-2 degrees cooler than it did before.

colder thermo is probly the easiest bet.
|
cooler therm if anybody makes on, all i can find are OEM temp ones...

check out "Water Wetter", i bought a bottle for $5 and it works wonders
|
i tried the watter wetter, not so great, it was alright, but it didnt do a drastic job...i mean it drops a few degrees, so i guess its worth it..not expensive stuff, u can find it at autozone or any other parts store

I had heard about turning the heater on but not the a/c. makes sence though but if you turned the heater on wouldnt it turn on the fan and help the water recirculate?
|
I had my tune from Trifecta turn the fans on at around 195 and ramp up to 100% by 198. So my car never sees anything above 200 anymore. I love it.
