Engine not starting, Turns over but doesnt run
Hey guys. i hope this is the right spot to ask this question. I am having issues with my 07 chevy cobalt ls with the 2.2 I went out this morning to start it but all i got was a engine turning over but not running. Almost as if it was not getting gas. It ran fine yesterday with no issues.
I checked all the fuses and everything seems to be in order there. I can hear the fuel pump turn on when i put the key to the on position. There does seem to be a check engine light now. I am working on optaining a obd scan tool.
I was wondering if anyone has run into this or simliliar and maybe lead me where to start looking? I would apreciate any help you guys can give me. Thanks!

p0016 is cam and crank correlation code. Sets when they are out of sink for 25 of 35 engine cycles. Id inspect the electrical side(connectors, harnesses etc), but you may have a stretched timing chain. If it cranks and wont start, it sounds like a stretched chain. Valves may not be closing at the proper time. Compression test would help diagnose.

Thanks guys. I did a compression test, I dont remember the exact number but i dont think it was low. Im being told that i need to do a leak down test? to get proper results but they guy i spoke with also thinks its a timing chain. I purchased the crank position sensor just incase. I need to install that and see the results.
What is my best course of action to replace this sensor? Im being told i have to remove the start to get to it. Does that mean i have to do this from below the car? Might be kind of dificult parked on the street Thanks for all the help guys. If its a timing chain i might be screwed

You may be able to do a fair amount from above. Under would be easier with the oil filter housing and intake mani in the way. But never done a starter on a cobalt to know for sure. Leak down test would tell you if your valves are open at tdc or not for sure. Good luck to you.
