Good 2.2 engine mods
Hey guys, I am new to this forum, somebody from fiberglassforums.com sent me here. My girlfriend has an 08 coupe revolution(idk if that means 2LT or 1LT) was wondering what are some good but cheap engine mods for the 2.2. I have a modified dakota, but I don't know much about any performance car sites or the cobalt engines.

some good mods are cold air intakes, headers, downpipes, and the exhaust.
bolt on show some power and are relatively cheap. The Injen CAI is good. about 200 bucks it improves throttle response and adds about 7whp... can also help with gas |

im not sure about chips.
and the thing about the GMPP and Injen is that you wouldn't FEEL a big difference, its more of a preference. if she wants to keep warranty then do the GMPP intake. if she doesn't give two shits about warranty, then id recommend an after market... |

yea i was looking at the injen but i also saw the GM performance ones, but i wasnt sure if one was technically better than the other. They don't have any kind of chips or anything for the 08's yet do they?
and im not sure about chips...have u tried ebay? |
some people swear by their injen, some swear by the $50 jdm intake.. the gmpp is easy to convert to ram air..
...and putting on a non-gm intake doesn't necessarily void your warranty. ive been to the dealer many times with my non-gm intake and they haven't said boo. i still have my warranty (even though it will expire in less than 3k miles :( ) |
depends on the dealership...

yup. its ramair. so if you want it a full CAI, run to a local Autozone and pick up the piping...

and if you're worried about your warranty, read this: https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/general-cobalt-68/your-rights-about-your-car-warranty-aftermarket-mods-7439/ cliff notes: they cant void your warranty just because you have aftermarket non-oem parts installed BUT if you bring your car in for a problem and they can trace the problem back to your aftermarket part, you might be in trouble. If you stick with good quality tested products, you shouldn't have an issue. In fact, most reputable aftermarket parts companies have a policy that if a dealer refuses to fix an issue because they claim its the fault of the a/m part, the a/m manufacturer will fix it free of charge then go after the dealer. A good example of this is the whole K&N oiled filter myth. IF a dealer even thinks about voiding a warranty because they claim an over-oiled filter ruined the MAF, K&N will fix it for you then pursue the dealer. |

how'd you know it was ported? |
Check The Stickies in 2.2 Performance.
Try Theses, Injen Full Cold Air, (Black) TTR Solid Upper Mount Header Back Exhaust. Too Many Options. I Believe Eitheer HPTuners or LSEdit are compatible with the 08's |

as for "Chip" go to JetChip.com and look up their GM Performance Module for the 2008 2.2 Also, search on the site for "jet Chip" and read up on it. You will definitely want to check the ECM on your girl's car before ordering since it may or may not fit depending on the setup of the plugs. Like I said, do a couple searches and if you still need help, send me a PM |
aftermarket intake voiding your warranty...... you guys are freakin funny.
injen is good and you could do an inexpensive cat-back with a magnaflow muffler for a coupla ponies and better sound, don't for get the resonator or it'll sound like ass. |

n20 that is all
|
yeah a good 150 shot.. on stock internals.

n2o ain't cheap were i come from, but it's damn worth it. i wasn't making fun of anybody i'm laughing cause there are people out there that still believe a cai can void your warranty. only if you drown the damn thing in the hudson and hydro-lock your engine.

Something quick is to remove the air intake resonator ("silencer")
|
cool, thanks a lot guys, I've never had to worry about the warranty on my truck since its a 2000, but i was more worried about chips or any kind of tuning voiding the warranty, not so much the intake. I'll have to look into that SAI, i've never heard of that before, but it sounds like fun

There is nothing fun about SAI lol. If you have it and want to get a new header, it's actually a pain. |
